I have a couple Hoover convertibles that are apparently classified as “promotional models”. From what I understand, promotional models were lower end, budget priced alternatives. One of my two has a slightly shorter cord but the other one has every option that a fully loaded deluxe convertible has, just a different color. There is nothing cheap or budget conscious about either of them in terms of quality.
Could it be that I have an incorrect understanding of what a “promotional model” actually is?
"A promotional model is a model (hired-sic) [used] to drive consumer demand for a product, service, brand, or concept by directly interacting with potential customers. Most promotional models are conventionally attractive in physical appearance."
I think you're correct that Hoover's were often low-end models; although I think some were mid-range.
