I think the seller mis-labeled that Royal...it's probably a MRY9100 Powercast. Very much an odd ball Royal vac from the discontinued Powercast line, but not vintage.

I hope someone gives that

Hoover Constellation 444 a good home. I sure don't want to. I have 4 of them already. I always liked this model it reminds me of a orange basketball. They are nice even though they are the bottom of the line models... Dan

Didn't see other thread, but...

stricklybojack's profile picture
...even if i had seen it i would have started another because when the previous Ebay thread gets too long (over 100 posts) that hurts people on iPads (or other tablet devices) or Smart phones with limited data plans. When you click to check the last few entries it loads the whole smear & that eats up data especially when many big pics have been posted.I should have put a number on this one however...

"Is this a Compact hose? It doesn't look like a Lux hose."
No, that is a hose for a Eureka upright.

The fitting is designed to clip into an access port under a clipped cap in the exterior hood casing above the brushroll, on the body of the machine below the headlight. The fitting inserts down and then rotates inward, cutting off airflow from the main brushroll intake bottom plate, directing near full suction through the hose.
It was a convenient innovation over other brand's methods to attach a hose for above-the-floor cleaning - most others were awkward slide or clam,p on affairs that covered the entire width of the brushroll plate - of accomplishing this for above-the-floor cleaning. It appeared on two-tone blue Eurekas just prior to the top mounted rug height dial.
In another note:
Saran braided Eureka hoses are renowned for retaining their flexibility and air tightness long after other brands braided hoses have become leaky. Most of mine from the 50s and 60s Mobilaire hams, Rotomatics, canisters and uprights alike, are still 'thump' worthy.

Found These Genuine Hoover Agitators

Found these Hoover agitators on Ebay - thought the guy was trying a fast one because the description had the word "wood" in it. They are the real all metal deal w/ beater bars and I only paid $14.70 a piece including shipping. I bought all 5, 2 are kinda wobbly but at that price I'm not complainin'! The Hoover - It Beats - as it Sweeps - as it Cleans!

Gray 1205

s31463221's profile picture
I would be careful with that one. If it had been rebuilt by Electrolux, it would have more of a hammertone finish and a rebuild tag attached to the body of the machine. I see them go across eBay every now and then, but I'm not sure this one fits the description. I can't really find a good photo, but I'll include what I could come up with. This machine you have found may even belong to one of our members here who has painstakenly rebuilt it, but I would contact the seller and ask a LOT of questions before placing a bid if I was considering it. I hope that helps some!

1205

As above the factory rebuild would have a riveted tag on side with new serial no(old one painted over)and possible paper label inside bag door.Would use current colors at time of rebuild. This could be a good vac but factory rebuild would not reuse broken front wheel assy.

WOW,,so THATS what a Bee Vac looks like! I dont think ive ever seen one before. How cool.

In the early 1970s, an Aunt had that exact same DAM. She traded in an older Convertible for it, because it matched her lime green stove, refrig, and dishwasher. She kept the DAM parked next to her fridge.
She had that real LONG shag carpet in her house,,in white, of course,,had to be raked, vacuumed, and then raked again. Was beautiful as long as no one walked across it!
I always wondered if that Hoover did a very good job at getting to the very bottom base nap of that carpet, being that it was soooo incredibly thick.
I would have to say it did, because her carpet always looked beautiful.

Her DAM did develope the wobbly handle tho and she had kitchen carpet that she wasnt careful about vacuuming up spilled food ,,so the DAM didnt last too long. I remember the little hose from the brush roll to the bag was always getting clogged. Of course she should have been more careful with it.

She then bought a second hand Electrolux 1205 with the blue PN1. I doubt the PN 1 did as good a job at beating and sweeping that long thick shag carpet as the DAM had done, but it was better than nothing.
She probablly should have kept that original convertible!

That 1205 did something i have never seen before or since.
On the blue PN hose,,Just behind the top little PN double socket at the top of the hose handle,,a dark spot started to form on the hose itself,,about the size of a large pin head, which was a small hole after awhile.
One day FIRE shot out of the the hole, and the PN and 1205 were still running.

She was smart enough to unplug the vac from the wall outlet, and not use the vac again until the Electrolux man brought a new hose.
This was about 1976, so the new hose was the yellow and blue that would have been for a Golden J/ Super J.

I know that 1205 lasted at least another 34 years or more. It was in her garage when she passed away in 2010, for use in cleaning out the car and garage,,still working fine,,the motor was a little tired by then, and the yellow hose was leaky as a sieve, but the ol Lux still had power.

Brian,

I agree with you totally about how well those 1205's hold up, I have a couple myself and they both are still running like champs.

Speaking of 1205's, I JUST ran across this on eBay and had to share. It's a FrankenLux with an artistic twist! This one caused me to do a double-take since I'm used to the blue on the 1205!

Got this on Fleabay

It was beat up but I cleaned the hood, blew out the cobwebs, changed out both motor bearings, replaced the agitator (plastic ends) and belt, replaced the handle with a less beat up one from a U4497, replaced the dirt tube, cloroxed the vinyl bag and viola, I now have a new daily driver, it's a U4385 Decade 80.

Here's a smart little beauty, the Top-of-the-Line version with internal cordwinder, if you like the unusual and clever design in a vintage bagged canister vacuum. This is the one that has a single stage 8" wide 'pie plate' turbine fan and is very powerful. It carries 3 of the tools on-board under the 'lid'.

I have one or I'd be  bidding. :-)

Sometimes after seeing the same old Bissell,Dirt Devil,Dyson and even the same old Hoover and Electrolux something unseen and unknown will appear as it did with the MW commercial that turned up complete, original and in amazing condition for a commercial vac that is usually used, abused and discarded.See it and more and more to come at EBay seller leisurelady65 or vintage vacuum cleaner.---Gary,The white/red Filter Queen you recall is probably the first Princess of about 1985 for vac shops.I saw only ONE here but a vac shop in the region sold them and many gray Princess II & III.

and have had other Filter Queen models in the past.  What is the difference between the Filter Queen and the vac shop Pincess?  Can't imagine that it would be much.

made in Japan

A Brother and a Stradavaro from Japan. One found with hose only, one with remote hose.Shows that even though tanks started looking like a stove pipe with a motor in it they became different from US to Europe to Japan with some being works of industrial art.See at vintage vacuum or EBay seller leisurelady65.--Princess--differences included-no chrome, one speed only, small power nozzle only,P III added lomger electric hose and ball wheels.

I can snap up this one for $15, but it is truly a beater. I passed on this machine at $25 & again at $15, just so much work to do, but that color is really nice looking at that $200 eBay machine, hmmm...

1985 Royal 903

kirbyclassiciii's profile picture
Serial #J85F005490 (October 1985). The bag is wrong as it is the older cotton-twill "Electro-Hygiene" red bag (from models 777 and 285) and the marque ceased to exist after 1983. The correct bag for a 1985 model 903 is actually a tan diamondback vinyl bag (with red accents, and the ROYAL ribbon logo).

Used to have a Shop Vac "Mighty Mini" at the transmitter site years ago-Was assigned to clean out one of the sideband transmittersa-so I grabbed the "Mighty Mini"Sadly the Mighty Mini let out a horrible Mighty Shreak and died-couldn't be revived.Did the autopsy-someone before me didn't put a bag in the machine. Was full of dust, cement dust and so forth-this went into its motor-seizing it up.So finished my PM that night with rags and cleaner.

(Near) new upright bargain

stricklybojack's profile picture
I have never bought from this ebay seller before but i do have this vacuum, a damn good deal at this price, & shipping is free. It is somewhat heavy at the handle & the hose is somewhat less than svelte but CR rated it a "best buy" & near the top of their Bagged upright heap last time i looked. It's a 2 motor clean air belt-less design with HEPA bags. I bought these liquidation Kenmores from other sellers in Kentucky, where i guess Sears has dumped most of these store return & demo units, & have been very happy with my purchases.

I bought one of those from the same seller it arrived in good condition. Not a bad vacuum overall. After I finished playing with it I resold it on Craigslist for the original purchase price. The vacuum was shipped in a very large box. The seller must have lost money on the shipping.

The Maytag Legacy canister S3592 was a Home Depot exclusive. It's the same thing as a Hoover Duros S3590. Home Depot managed to get a line of Maytag branded Hoover models. There was also a bagless Elite that was rebranded as a Maytag Legacy upright, and pet edition.
