Perhaps of interest to some...

Hi all! A 1:6 scale Bachmann Kiddypliance canister vacuum like the one my Barbie is using is for sale on eBay now, but ending within 24hrs. It's currently on sale for a BIN $15.99 + $6 ship-- a steal!! The item # is 360453863727 (and I hope that doesn't break any rules; I have no affiliation with whoever is selling this, and unfortunately my computer skills mirror my photography ones ;), so I don't know how to "link" things. It looks like the one for sale has a chunk of plastic missing from the piece that connects the aluminium tubing, but that could be easily fabricated. It doesn't include the battery pack that this particular piece came with (both visible and partially hidden behind the dioramas wall screen), but the display value is worth alot more than $20 and change I think!! The seller has it listed in the wrong category; if it was listed in Vintage Barbie it would have sold long ago. I thought I'd toss a tasty bone to my fellow vacuum-a-holics!! As my photo proves, even injection molded plastic can get the rug bug!!! Cheers!

Thank You Kindly!

I used a tripod for the first time and still it's fuzzy...

I had a great mental image when I saw your handle and photo:

Picture a red carpet event, with a phalanx of us with our favorite make-n-model, vacuuming our way to the front where we're interviewed posing with our "dates", after which a trusted assistant whisks our purring beauties away in a Busby Berkley-esque formation! The crowd goes wild!! True Glamour can only be achieved with a properly clean carpet!!!

Derek, I wouldn't have done that if I was you!! That Kirby deserves AT LEAST a $500.00 reserve price, considering the condition you restored the Kirby 1C to, & it's rarity.

Best of luck with the sale....Rob

the large box came out of a damp basement, all the contents were in an attic when i aquired it. the bottom of the box is there but is dettached from both sides but is still attached from the front. The hose is perfect no frays or anything it's air tight.

Let me just reassure whoever may be the future owner of the 514, I will be taking great care with packaging and shipping. Everything will be wrapped and the boxes will be within other boxes and packing material between the sides as to not futher cause damage. The cleaner will be shipped in its own seperate box and wrapped as well caefully to prevent damage during shipping.

No I didnt even bid. I don't have enough money. I'm saving up for one of my dream machines. A kirby 512 in all original condition with boxes and stuff. Or maybe a 517 or 519. I like the color of the 517, 518, and 519 bag but Idont really like the grayish bag. I like the light gray and also the purple/blue bag but not the medium gray bag. I do wish to have all the kirbies in original condition with boxes but Ihope to get them on craigslist and thriftstores. Cause the.Iwont be paying 450 for them. And why exactly did you want me to get it?

When you wrote

"I want it", I wrote in, "me too." Then I decided not to bid 'cause I already have a 508, 510 and 515 and felt a little greedy. (I also have 12 Kirby's in a one bedroom apartment.) By the way, I just purchased a 518 with red trim and gold bag with red logo. I expect it by this weekend. Got it on e bay for 70.00. Looks to be all original and just needs a good polish.
Anyway, it was nothing particular about you getting it. Just got caught in the whole thing and wondered since I had passed on it.

The Kirby 514 has been relisted, I have had a few machines get bids and then recieved no payment. So it is still available under user user bentclayton. I may also still have a tradition depending on if payment is recieved or not. So if you wanted it and couldn't bid before heres another chance!

KirbyKid,
It's special because Hoover pulled the first and last of all of their machines and stored them in "The Hoover Vault." Now that vault has been mostly cleared out to my knowledge as TTI is pulling Hoover out of North Canton Ohio. The Hoover Historical Center was bought by the Walsh University in North Canton Ohio so they have some units. So essentially this power head canister is brand new, either the 1st or last or so off the line of this model which was made in the 70's. It's a low end Celebrity since it has wrap around cord storage, no headlight and I'm not sure about attachment storage with this model. But nevertheless, these were powerful, excellent cleaning machines and built to last. The power nozzle bottom plate is metal, the suction unit is mostly metal. It's a nice red color too!!

Absolutely Robert....I remember seeing plenty of Eureka "Wide-Trak"s as they were called in the 1970's. They even had a compatible "Wide-Trak" version of the beige Eureka tool set, which offered an extra-wide pan converter for the hose and an extra wide bare floor brush - all stored in an extra-wide cardboard attachment box.

I saw many of these before I ever saw the equivalent Sanitaire versions....They all had extra long Vibra Groomer One brushrolls.

Someone out there must have the official Eureka spec sheets from the 1970's for these Wide-Trak vacs....

Kirbykid, Yes, of that specific model number. Its one of first or last of that model number off the production line. It's nearly impossible to know exactly which it is whether its the one of the first off the production line or one of the last, but vault machines were one of those spectrums.

Strange Eureka Roto-Matic re-fitted for medical use!

eurekaprince's profile picture
Okay - this must be the strangest thing I have ever seen....a Eureka RotoMatic canister hooked up to a cast cutting device to suck up the fine plaster as the doctor cuts off the cast! Did Eureka supply the vac to the "Stryker" medical company?

I saw one of those cast cutting devices with the rotomatic in 2 different hospitals when I was 12 years old and had to get my cast cut off. I hated when it was being used because I thought it was going to cut through my skin even though the doctor kept telling me that it would not.

Roto-Matic

I have a somewhat similar Eureka for Wahl that picks up hair from 2 clippers. It came from an older barber shop with a barber who lived to 90.I have also seen a Hoover Swingette type in doctors office as a cast saw vac.

OK Guys

I am starting to thin the herd.  Decided I need to scale back in preparation for a possible move.  I will be selling machines three at a time.  The whole collection is not going but it will be scaled back considerably.  No reserve.  Good machines.  First up a Hoover Innovation with attachments.  These are rare in the US but really good cleaners.  Good luck.

Serial #H88C003821 (August 1988), has original literature, attachments and sales documentation from 1990.

The 884 looks to be a continuation of the 880 due to the vinyl diamondback bag and 5.4 amp motor. The cord is gray.

Bud,

What exactly?

Seller says per description that it "has strong suction, and a powerful brush that you would expect from Royal. The bag is in excellent condition and the vacuum is very clean for its age. The metal shows signs of age as seen in the pictures, but it is still a good looking vacuum."

This is the first time I've been to the eBay thread in a week. I am very interested in the 880. I just don't have any money right now. I'm waiting for a payment to go through so I can pay someone for a royal tank cleaner in green and also the blue Hoover 63. I think it was a 63. But it might take 10 days for Paypal to put they payment through. So if I had the money i'd try and buy it but sadly I don't.

Starting bid is just 99 cents, and if you lock your bid on it (however much you desire, at $1 or more), it's yours if you win. You could pick it up directly in Oregon City to avoid shipping costs.
