got a friend who took grandmas hoover to vac store. wanted new bearings and brushs put on. got it back and the motor has a higher pitch than before. would new bearings do that?

guy replaced the brushroll with a rusted one with good brushes, my friend got a wooden all brush roll and put it on, says it grooms carpet good. i told him the beater bars made the low hummm sound.

vac is 1971 white base, gold hood and bag, no light. does not know model # but its a hoover!

shortly after he got vac back the store closed. . .your thoughts please and thank you

To me, it sounds like either the shop was on the verge of closing and all the parts they had left were used OR they're a hack jonb. But that's my 2cents

Hoover bearings,,,

It sounds to me like the shop might have replaced the bearings with some aftermarket chinese "fit all" bearings. Or they didnt get the small washers back in place. The big question is if the motor gets hot,,or the ends of the beater bar get hot,, telling you that they are dragging. You can always take off the belt and see if the noise goes away,,
