HI, i got an electrolux epic 6500 sr today at a yard sale today. I got home and cleaned it up pluggrd it in, and turned it on. The power nozzle didnt come onn with it. So heres where the help comes in, i tried reset and cleaning the electrical prongs. The power nozzle comes on in spurts, then goes off. The on off switch on the handle doesnt work tho. There is a slightly smashed place near the hose handle, but iys not even bad enough to decrease suction... so. will i need a new hose? what should i do? thnks in advance....

I'd guess you have a problem with the swivel connector on the PN itself. I think this was a common problem with this design.

As Erick stated above, you could have a problem with the swivel connector on the power head. Some were metal to metal contacts, while others were hard wired. The hard wired ones, sometimes the wiring will get caught/pinched and snap/break. Also, the actual contacts/wiring in the wands can also cause problems, especially if there is a lot of movement. If it's just the wiring in the wands, the wires can be replaced separately from the wand. Also, check the swivel contacts in the handgrip. They should have little points on them, if they look like a square block, replace the contact assembly--once again this piece can be replaced separately from the handgrip. Also, what about the contact point right at the machine, right where the hose goes in??
