What you have there is a miele S200 first edition. It was made in 1969. the hose is not original and the nozzle belongs to a later model. To get the hose of you need to put your foot on the lid and than push reel hard, turning the swivel a bit to the left and right. The cord is replaced aswell because it should be a light grey cord ( same colors as the weels). THe manual above belongs to the second edition with the white hose. MOst of the time it is really easy to fix the cord winder. If you need any help or want a copy of the original manual just ask me. greetz edgar

Ok, the table looks clean, but after everything we pulled out of the carpet with the Vax All Terrain, I wasn't taking any chances! :p I love the design of this Miele; it has a very smart, minimalist look.

On the subject of vintage Mieles... ...can you tell me anything about this one, Edgar? I sold it last year, since I'm not really a canister person, but it was a very nice cleaner to use - a LOT of power, and so quiet!

Miele - Immer Besser
Hi Al, always loved the "Sheer" look of the range of Miele cleaners, althought the cleaners of late all have georgous curves....everything has a time, certainly is lovely vac...do we know how many other colours this series came in?? Rob, welcome to the club, lots of pics and posts to catch up on, I agree about looking after vacs etc, although we want everything original it must have been wanted to have had the newer tools purchased for it!!! I was hoping you would be able to advise on this problem. I thought that the floor tool was not the origional (it appears identical to the one on Jack's later Miele) but was not sure about the hose. I think this may need to be replaced again as it seems to be suffering from cracking at the handle end - it has split twice (it appears that Hoover Sensortronic hoses suffer from this too) so I may try and get a lighter coloured hose which might look a little more in keeping with the cleaner. I would be interested in getting teh flexwinder working too, if possible if you can advise how to. I am not complaining about the replacements for this cleaner as it was only £4.99 to buy, and I am even more pleased to find it is older than I thought, its quiet and works well. Vintage Mieles
Jack I think that your (former) cleaner dates from the mid 1980s as an organisation I was involved with back then bought a commercial version of it - very similar, but dark brown, no suction switch, long flex and no winder, the foot switch was the entire width of the cleaner. I am sorry to have missed that one as it looked in lovely order Al | ||

THe white miele dates from the late eighties, it was the last one in its type. First there was the S224 in bright seventies red. than came the S225 IN brown with a silver lining and last but not least the S226 in white. The one on your pic is in excelent original condition. THe aswer to the other question is the S200 series came in 5 colors red, orange, bleu. light green and dark green. THere allso should exist an entire beige one but I never had seen it.

its not so far ...
Edgar Jack lives fairly close to me (36km) and we travelled together to Mike's house (325km). The ironic thing is that you could get from from Brussells to London (via Eurostar) in far less time than it took us to get to Mike's house because of road traffic. Writing this I cannot believ that it is already a week ago. If you can make the trip to London you would be very welcome to join us for another meeting - we talked about maybe one on November. And even if not in London you are welcome to a seat in the car - although you my have to have a cleaner (or maybe two) on your knees - Jack had to carry a kettle this way last week - I think he would have preferred if it were a Dyson kettle (only joking). Maybe Jack can post a pic of just how full the car was. We will try and give you as much notice as possible so you can try for a cheaper ticket on Eurostar - flying is OK too as I work in West London (near Heathrow) and live reasonably close to Gatwick (its probably slightly closer than Jack's house) or there are possibalities with Ryanair and such. Whatever way, you would be very welcome if you can make it - you could even fix the cordwinder on my Miele :) Al | ||

Actually having driven in Europe in a British car, and in America (obviously in an American car) I find the hard bit is not driving on the other side of the road, but rather on the other side of the car ...... | ||
