Was using my Brown Lux Model G with PN last night, just for kicks and grins, and was vacuuming along, happy as a lark, when the crazy thing started whistling at me! I shut it off, thinking there was someone or something in the room, Nope,,it was the Model G all right!
So, i took the PN off the hose, and put my hand over the nozzle,,sure enough, that made the whistling have a higher pitch. When i took my hand off, the whistling either stopped, or had a lower pitch if i stopped the suction just slightly with my hand. The Whistling didnt start until i was in the middle of vacuuming the last room of the house, and had done thw whole house by this time,,so the bag was getting fuller, evidently.
The bag is fairly new, shouldnt be THAT full yet,,is this a sign of something being wrong with the Full Bag Shut Off mechanism, or is it normal? As the bag fills, will the whistling get worse, until the front does pop open?
Its been so long since ive used a Model G, i wasnt sure.

I can't speak for a model G, but that was verry common with the model LX! About a week before it popped (ejected) there was a whistling sound to tell that the wrapper (bag) was more than half full. It was at this point that I waited for that magic moment to see it pop!

It could also be that the rubber gasket thingy ripped and is vibrating.

If a model G is a Whistler, than an LX is Whistler's mother? lol

My AE and Olympia sometimes whistle if there is something caught in the wands or hose. I still remember the first the Olympia stopped and the lid popped, I thought something was wrong with it, scared the heck out of me.
