Here's a Eureka that I got from Ebay a couple of weeks ago. It's in pretty good condition besides a couple scratches in the paint. All I really had to do was clean it up, and wash the bag and get all the dust bunnies out from under the hood. This is the first vintage Eureka I got and I really like it. I think it's from the mid-late 70's- as far as I know, I would appreciate it if anyone knew the exact year though.

1974 Newspaper Ad

From the Jan. 30, 1974, PITTSBURGH PRESS. Although unstated, the Model 1405 debuted in 1973 with the Model 1415, so it must be the featured cleaner ... in "Lagoon Blue"!

(P.S. Brian, this is the only ad that I could find so far that mentions the color.)

Paul - I was first introduced to the exact words “Lagoon Blue” in a very descriptive article about the industrial design of the “new” turtle-shaped Eureka Princess compact canister. I am pretty sure one of the Vacuumland threads offers a link to the article. If not, the article is out there on the internet somewhere. It’s from around 1962.

Thanks, Brian, I'll look for it!

Btw, Brian, I hope you didn't think my initial comment implied that I didn't think you knew your Eureka info. I just meant that I hadn't located "Lagoon Blue" in other ad's. It would seem that Eureka didn't really delve into the color spectrum until 1968 or so when it began offering more color options and including color and accent names more frequently in its ad's such as moss green, fawn beige, gold mist, teakwood, et cetera.

Not at all Paul!!! :-D

It’s true that beyond that article about the design of the Princess, I have never ever seen any other Eureka literature or ads that mention that specific colour. The ad you posted is indeed a first for me too!!!
