Hi everyone:

My turn to look for information. I picked up this compact at a garage sale Saturday for $5.00. Its a model C80-2. Can anyone tell me when it was made (I'm assuming that it is classed as a C8 1979 to 1981 but when in that time period were they blue?) Also how did the colours work on the Compacts. I've seen a multitude of colours for each model - predominantly the teal. Were they all available at once or did they each have a specific year?

As well, would the attachment set for this one have been white or the speckled clear plastic?

Thanks for the help.
Doug

It looks to me like 78-79, Im not to compact savvy im just going by the PN, also If im not mistaken I think someone in another thread mentioned that Compact had mix match tools. Some had the same models with both sets of speckeled tools, Ill try and find the thread, by the time I do Im sure someone else (who knows Compact)will come thru for ya lol.
I havnt seen any compacts around here I guess the weren't popular in New England...I think I seen one in my life in person.

1981 to 1982. That would tie in with my C-80 that I bought brand new in Palm Springs about that time. Here she is. The C-80-2 probably indicates a Canadian machine. Also the teal color. Tania has that one. A beauty.

This model C-80 was manufactured in 1981-82 and was made in two colors to the best of my knowledge. I have the C-80 in a dark teal color which the nameplate says Compact Electra -IEC Canada. I purchased mine at a thrift store here in Milwaukee on New Years Eve two years ago and is in mint condition!
Interstate Engineering had made many different confirurations over the years in many beautiful colors! LOVE THEM ALL !!
ENJOY!!

Hi Fred - love the machine. That date would work in well too. It just occurred to me that it has 45th anniversary model on the other side which should make it a 1982 model (I think).

Now if I can only figure out the colour of the parts and how they worked their machine colour schemes.........:)

Thanks again
Doug

The speckled handle gives away what tools would have come with it. Here is the tool set that came with my C-9 - before the C-8. They were switching over to the speckled tools. Yours would have had the speckled tools (I believe.)
