I have kind of a dumb question. I have a variety of Electrolux bags that I've gotten from various places, some of which date to the 60s I think (not real sure). I use some of them from time to time. However, should I just put them up for safe keeping? In other words, are they collectible?

Thanks!

Bill

Bill:

Collectible, but not wildly valuable. If a collector has, say, a pristine 1205, then a package of vintage bags makes a great addition, completing the vacuum as a showpiece.

I have stopped buying and using vintage bags, because I have had one come apart in the vacuum cleaner, due to a failure of the vintage adhesives holding it together. Can't say if that is a common problem, or if it was a rare situation due to poor storage conditions, but if there is anything you do not want, it's a bursting Electrolux bag. Due to the "in-line" design of an Electrolux's bag chamber and motor, there is no protection for the motor if the bag bursts - all that schmutz goes straight into your motor and its bearings.

Thanks for that thought! I kind of wondered if older bags might be prone to failure. I think I'll stop using the older bags that I have and start using new bags exclusively. Thanks again!

Have had that problem with older bags in general
the adhesive gives the bag falls open & yuck what a mess!
