You are correct, Chris. The site used to re-size overly large picture uploads to fit, or would send you message "file size too big". Since the server change it doesn't anymore and will readily accept huge raw pictures well in excess of 2 MB each. Just because we can doesn't mean we should. LOL Most people set their cameras at maximum resolution which in your case on the Photosmart E427 gives a wonderfully detailed picture measuring 2848 X 2136 pixels. And these days it's so simple to directly connect the camera - or the card - and upload the raw picture which can exceed 3MB unedited... Also these days many are using widescreen computer monitors and flatscreen tvs to view their pictures. In my case I use a 20" monitor set at 1280 X 1024. Do you have a Photo Editing Program (that may have come with the camera? My camera pumps out these huge pictures too and I still use Paint Shop Pro 6 to edit before posting. Ive 'discovered' that resizing the raw image to 1200 w X 900 h pixels fills the forum screen nicely without requiring the scroll bar along the bottom. Alternatively, you could re-set your camera to a smaller resolution. Resizing your above 2848 X 2136 picture has reduced it to 1200 X 900 and file size has reduced from 849 KB to 164 KB. I know you'll get this all sorted out. Dave |
