Hi Everybody,

The little old housebound couple that I volunteer food shop for because they can not get out anymore asked me if I could fix their vacuum. It was making a very horrible sound when switched on.

I tore into the Model E and found that the inside of the housing was really rusted. Something is lodged in fans, but the outter fan housing was rusted solid to the inner fan housing. I got the fan assembly off the motor and the motor spins freely and smoothly. The brushes have about half left.

So, I tried to seperate the fan housings and pretty much totally destroyed them and the fans in the process.

Does anyone have fans and the two fan housings sitting around in a parts bin so I can fix their cleaner? They are on a limited income and she was very upset her vac wasnt working. I'm sure she vacuumed up water somewhere along the way from the looks of it, maybe tipped the cat bowl and didnt realize it, who knows they are really old.

Anyway, email me at estal@pobox.com if anybody can help me out.

Thanks!

Andy

Andy, I found that tearing apart those motors will drive one
crazy. Ck with a vac shop to see if someone makes a lamb
motor to go in as a replacement. Actually any kind that
will fit. It may cost 30.00 or more (it's been years since
my vac shop days) or you may have to find another G that runs
well and get the used motor out of it !
If you did get fans, you have to be sure they spaced properly
or they rub or stick. Not to discourage you but never had luck with that job, 20 years ago!
Best of luck !
Norm

Motor is fine

Norm, Once I go the motor out and dissconected the fans, I bench tested the motor. It runs beautifully, the motor is not the issue. The problem is the fans and the fan housings. I have no problem getting these motors out, and taking them apart, they were built to do this easyily.

I looked at my parts suppliers and these parts are NLA. There may be a whole replacment motor and fan assembly but its >$100 which is too much. All I need is the fans and fan housings, if anyone can help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks again,
Andy

Keep in mind this is the same 535 W motor that the late model XXX has. This should open up the field for available parts.
