Hello;

I came across this little Genvac 8227 hand held and searched every where for info and could not find anything.

Is there anyone that has knowledge and could help?

Thank You

Kevin

Looks like a rebranded royal.

Kevin,

Les is right about it being a clone of Royal's 501 hand vacuum.

A late 80s rebranded Royal 501, likely for a special store or catalog.

Think you forgot a decimal in the price though... Very few vacs are worth that and most of em are restored 1930s Kirbys.

People really need to quit doing this. This is why everyone hates giving out information on here. People join that are scalpers, get told its rare, then flip it on eBay for a 5 figure sum of money as soon as they get the first comment.

His Vacuumland account was created a day ago. Speaks volumes.

That bag also looks to be made by DVC. I didn't know they made bags for handhelds. I've only seen that pattern on the aftermarket Kirby shakeout bags and F&G conversion bags.

It's a knock-off of a Royal. It was not made and has nothing to do with Royal. There was a company who supplied the vac shop industry called GenVac. Before the internet. Like 1980's. They sent catalogs and that machine was one of their Asian knock off vacs.

Tom

What kind of motor did it use? Was it the same as the ones used in the plastic Dirt Devil hand vacs?

My apologies if I offended anyone.

I don't know if I was ever called a scalper before and yes I just created my account. I searched endlessly to try and find this vac. And the only one I found is one that sold for $700, hence my ebay listing.
Typically if I can't find info I just post it on ebay for what information I have and someone with more knowledge will message me and share their knowledge.
Just so you know, I love vacuums and have a basement full, I find the old ones very unique, and yes I do buy and resale, but I don't have a large knowledge base so I am learning as I go. I feel the same about radios and fans.

Hold it right there! Kwitcomb7159 did nothing wrong here. If anything, YOU are the one in the wrong here for making such a arrogant statement! HOW DARE YOU criticize someone who has a vacuum coming on here, looking to communicate with collectors, and looking to get some information?! What a member decides to do with that information once they receive it is NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS! That handvac was Kevin's property, for him to do with as he wished....if he chose to sell it, as he did, he did NOTHING WRONG AT ALL! Yes, perhaps Kevin should have stated in his first posting that he wanted information so he could sell it, but he had no ill will or malice by posting here.

It's attitudes like YOURS, Huskyvacs, that's stopping new members from joining and posting here. And those attitudes need to end NOW! If you don't like it, leave the forum!

I swear

You are never friendly to anyone Rob 😂

If you really want to get down to it, your attitude is the reason why nobody wants to join anymore. The issue at hand was resolved so why attack anyone?

Evidently

I'm not the only one who's tired of the attacks 🤷

To the original poster, if you're new ish to selling, or not sure where to start on pricing for a certain item, just ask! Someone will be kind enough (some not so much) to offer suggestions. I hate to say it but sometimes eBay is the worst place to do a price check 😅
