Dwayne,

This is best used with models Dual Sanitronic 50 onward. It was first introduced with the Kirby Classic III's tool set.

With the hose end attached to where the bag goes, it can be used to inflate balloons and other inflatables; but if you use this with the hose end attached up front, it can then be used to deflate things as well as clean certain nooks and crannies other tools can't get.

I never had problems with it other than the fact that the nozzle size is specific to very few inflatables. Make sure it is a snug fit and is able to go past the check valve flapper in the inflatable's nozzle. I've never used mine but probably once to fill and air mattress and that was like...20 years ago.

Kirby now warns you in the owners book for the Avalir series vacuums NOT to use the inflator attachment for more than a few minutes at a time. The backpressure it makes will overheat the plastic fans. Also if you let the bag get too full and continue to run the vacuum. The vac shop here has a bucketfull of deformed fans from these issues.Maybe time to go back to the metal fans.

I have several of these in different tool sets, but I've never actually used one. For all the accessories that come with a Kirby, I only ever use one as an upright. If I'm going to use tools, I always pull out one of my Electrolux canisters. Right tool for the job, and all that.

You guessed right; I do think Kirby should bring back the old metal fan!
