Hey folks, here's some surprising news for you: Nuera Air, a major player in the central vacuum scene, may have stopped production of all their brands. We at Superior Vacuums got the scoop early, and we’re here to break it down for you. We’ll dive into what might have led to this unexpected move and what it could mean for the future of the industry. This big decision touches on some favorite brands like Beam, Husky, DuoVac, SoluVac, Smart, and InterVac (US), and it's going to ripple through the industry, affecting everyone from distributors to us, the consumers. Let’s explore this together and see what’s going on!

What's the Big Deal?
For those who might not be familiar, Nuera Air has been a cornerstone of the central vacuum industry. Their brands, like Beam and Husky, have been household names, known for their reliability and innovation. So, why is this cessation such a shocker? Well, it’s not just about a company stopping production; it's about the ripple effect this will have across the industry.

Product Availability: First off, with production grinding to a halt, what’s going to happen to the availability of these products? If you own a Nuera Air vacuum cleaner, or one of the top Nuera Air brand - a Beam central vacuum system, or were thinking of buying one, questions about future availability and options are probably swirling in your head.

Service and Support: What about servicing and parts? Many homeowners and businesses depend on these systems for their daily cleaning needs. The cessation means that the availability of parts and service might become more limited or possibly more expensive if the supply dwindles.

Impact on Distributors and Retailers: For distributors and retailers like us at Superior Vacuums, this news is a game-changer. It means rethinking our product lines and possibly seeking new partnerships to ensure our customers continue to have access to high-quality central vacuum solutions.

Why Did Nuera Air Pull the Plug?
While the specifics of Nuera Air's decision are not entirely public, we can speculate that like any business decision, it probably came down to economics, market demand, and perhaps shifts in the company’s strategic direction. The central vacuum market is competitive and constantly evolving, with technological advancements and changing consumer preferences shaping the landscape. It doesn't help that big corporations are buying out all the small players, stagnating the market even more.

To back up our speculation, we can look at the market research on the central vacuum system, the main product line that Neura Air has in their collection. The market for central vacuum systems was valued at 458.38 million USD in 2023, however the market for central vacuum systems is highly competitive with many manufacturers and vendors.

Looking Ahead: The Future of the Central Vacuum Industry
While this might seem like a setback, every cloud has its silver lining. This shift reveals the market for new players and innovations. Here's what we might expect:

Innovation and New Players: With Nuera Air stepping back, there’s room for new and existing companies to innovate and fill the gap. This could lead to the emergence of new technologies and improvements in central vacuum systems.

Market Consolidation: Sometimes, when a big player exits, it leads to market consolidation, where larger companies might absorb smaller ones or merge with equals to strengthen their market position. This could mean more robust, financially stable companies leading the market.

Sustainability and Refurbishing: With the growing focus on sustainability, there could be a rise in refurbishing and upgrading existing systems instead of replacing them entirely. This not only makes economic sense but is also better for the environment.

Consumer Choices: For consumers, this shake-up might lead to more choices as new companies strive to fill the void with innovative products, possibly at more competitive prices.

Recommendations and Alternatives
If you're on the lookout for high-quality central vacuum system alternatives now that Nuera Air has ceased manufacturing its brands, here are some reputable options to consider:

vacuflo central vacuum
Vacuflo Central Vacuum Systems - Vacuflo Central Vacuum Systems offer powerful, bagless cleaning with cyclonic filtration technology, providing an efficient and low-maintenance solution for homes of all sizes.

nilfisk central vacuum
Nilfisk Central Vacuum System - A leader in the central vacuum industry, Nilfisk renowned for its high-quality systems, innovative design, and exceptional filtration capabilities, making it a top choice for homeowners.

Otherwise, you can continue to find Nuera Air's parts and accessories while supplies last.

Final Thoughts
Nuera Air’s decision to cease manufacturing its central vacuum brands marks the end of an era but also the beginning of a new chapter in the industry. For us at Superior Vacuums and for our customers, it’s a call to adapt and look forward to the innovations and opportunities that change brings.

While there might be some uncertainty in the short term, the long-term outlook for the central vacuum industry remains bright. Innovations, new market players, and the evolving needs of consumers will continue to drive the industry forward. Let’s keep an eye on this space and see how things unfold. One thing’s for sure – the world of central vacuums is never dull!

I don't believe this

Where did you hear this news from? As far as I can tell, you don't appear to be a Nuera Air dealer based on not carrying any of their products on your website. You also claim that they "may have" stopped production which isn't a fully yes or no scenario. I'll know it to be true from Nerua Air themselves and their dealers when I reach out for confirmation this week because you're also not backing up with any sources. It's very possible you've only heard that Nuera Air has just only temporary shut down their facilities to take some vacation time off, I know that MD Manufacturing in the USA does this. But Nuera Air is one of the largest central vacuum companies in the world, I don't get why they'd just go out of business overnight because they did buy Beam not too long ago. They're one of the more popular brands in the states. Another thing is your profile seems off. 36 years was when you opened the business yet you're born in 1996. And 1,000 vacuums you have!?!?

Having (3) Hoover GUVs, I thought

gottahaveahoove's profile picture

about installing a Hoover central in my place.  But,  that idea has long passed, for various reasons.   With 400+ Hoovers in the house,  I think I'm ok. It's almost impossible, now, to find a Hoover unit.  I saw 1 in Canada, but......... think I'll pass.

Alex, I totally believe it! Superior Vacuums has this same article posted on their website. Why would they risk getting in trouble with Nuera Air & possibly losing access to the distributorship of their brands by spreading false information? As for the information in the profile, I would bet that it was a employee who was tasked to create the profile & make the post here....that would explain why he was born in 1996. And the reference to 1,000 vacuums could very well be what they have in stock. Another reason why I believe Superior Vacuums & trust this article is I have personally dealt with them before. I bought a Miele S401i canister vacuum from them a couple years ago - dealt with 1 of the managers & he & his assistant were very pleasant people to deal with & did everything they could to make me a happy customer. If you look up the Google reviews for them, I actually left them a positive review.

As for Nuera Air putting these brands out of business? As far as Beam & Husky are concerned, goodbye & good riddance! Beam USED to be a good brand decades ago....however, Electrolux AB totally ruined that brand! The Beam Alliance models are ABSOLUTE GARBAGE! The Domel single stage motor that those models used is very poor quality, with a short lifespan. The dirt collection & filtration system is crap on these too....VERY outdated, poor design. And that Electrolux AB hose, wand & powerhead setup is by far THE WORST right now in the industry! In fact, that powerhead is so bad, it could easily qualify as 1 of the worst powerheads ever made.

As for the Husky brand, that was just a hardware/department store brand that was primarily sold in Home Depot here in Canada. From what I have seen of their offerings, I wasn't particularly impressed and thought they were only average at best. I cannot speak to the other brands, as I don't know that much about them. But, my guess is, Nuera Air most likely pulled the plug on all these brands because they KNEW they were poor quality, crap brands, and decided it was best to pull the plug before their company's reputation suffered serious damage as a result. Either they will stay out of the Central Vac business entirely, or more likely, they will come up with new designs and a couple new brands eventually and market them.

Welp, it's true

They went out of business last week. Nuera Air didn't answer my calls back so I reached out to one of their dealers today. Pretty shocking cause not only they were one of if not the largest central vacuum company in the world but they had I think very fine systems. I liked the designs of the DuoVac power units, one of my top five picks for a recommendation. Well, not anymore. Now DrainVac just got bumped into it's place for my top five picks since they're very similar. But honestly, I could care less about Nuera Air because I do like other brands that are better in my opinion. MD Manufacturing, CycloVac, Vacuflo, and Vacu-Maid. My parents have a Beam from 1991 and if it had to be changed out today, I'd put in a Allegro since they're as close to what my parent's Beam was built back in the day and I really like that the filter can be machine washed. If somebody does take over from Nuera Air then great! However, a big corporation like that would be very hard if not impossible to do because I'll admit, Superior Vacuums does have a point with the way the central vacuum world is today.

I still think central vacs are the future! Although I personally wouldn't want one. I can see the need for them in the field. Especially in new construction. If I wanted to own a vac business, I personally believe that installing/servicing central vacs is the direction I would go.

Eventually, I believe all door-to-door vac companies will cease to exist. Because the market has shifted, and it seems the average consumer wants a Shark or Bissell from Walmart and will throw it away when something happens and buy a new one. Repeating the same process over and over.

Because of this the standard vac shops have probably seen less repairs overall thus hurting their business. The mentality of the American population has changed over the years. Having small appliances like vacuum cleaners repaired has become a thing of the past.

I just realized Superior vacuums is located in Canada and so is Nuera Air. Since this is being posted on a US based site. I'm assuming this will also affect the US as well? If so, I didn't realize the US central vac industry imported so much from Canada forgive me for my ignorance. I'm not a central vac enthusiast.

Yes we've had alot of Canadian built units here in the states. I think the one that'd affect us the most would be Beam cause again, that's one of the more popular brands. While you still don't want to put a system in your home, you can always collect them. I know there are some Canadian units that I'd love to find for my collection like these older Nuera Air DuoVac units for example. I loved the colors they used to have.

I can't help but wonder is the central vacuum industry in decline? There seems to be a lot of consolidation of brands lately and now shutting down what seemed to be a large brand.

I would say so

panasonicvac's profile picture
At least for my area, I know there are many more houses that are being built without having a central vacuum system. If any were to install in a central vac, they'd at least buy something that's cheap like from Amazon for example. That's what my aunt did. She or at least my uncle didn't wanted to spend alot on a MD or any of my top recommended picks. Instead they got a Allegro. If you think about it, is it really worth paying extra for a DuoVac where you can get a OVO that's very similar for alot less? Kenney has made an excellent point, consumers nowadays want something like a bagless cordless stick vac over a central vac (not me).

comments on news

I've been kind of busy so haven't been here for a few weeks but this was pretty big news. I have a couple of central vacuums in my collection related to this company. I don't have any of them installed, I use all of them without pipes. I have a Duovac Distinction which was their 240 volt model, that's a hybrid unit but I don't use any of my units bagless but I do have several bags for it which is good since who knows if bags will continue to be available for these units. The other vacuum I have is the Intervac vacuum, Nuera bought out Intervac a few years ago so I wonder if they will disappear as well. These days, I do think companies should think twice about allowing themselves to be purchased by a bigger company. As Rob said in a previous message, Beam wasn't very good anyway, the power nozzle wasn't very good and the hose end was proprietary so you had to use an adapter in order to use other attachments and you couldn't use any other power nozzle. We have a Beam store here in Saint Louis, I wonder if they will continue by selling other brands or if they will go out of business. A lot of central vacuum brands are from Canada, of course, Duovac was from there, there's Drainvac, Purvac which is also made by Drainvac, Cyclovac, and Allegro. The Duovac web site is still up but maybe the company just hasn't taken it down yet. There are a few recent brands that have entered the central vacuum industry, one of them is Titan although I'm not sure if a different company makes that brand.

forgot one

I forgot another brand that is from Canada, Canavac. I do have one of their models as well, I think it's the CLS750, it's a bag only unit.
