This version of the post (31829-31833 and Reply 31834, arh1953) about how to remove a stuck hose from the vacuum had wonderful pictures and directions. However, it was unclear about precisely what to do when you have released the hose from the "socket" BUT it is still attached to the metal ring/collar and thus will not separate from the vacuum. NOTE: On my 1205, the local Electrolux shop about 15-20 years ago, put a new rubber(?) hose on the unit that cannot be pulled out. Anyway, I have been pulling and twisting the hose inside of that collar ring to no avail. The collar has 2 slots that should allow the clips to pass through when they are pressed flat. The slots are NARROWER than the clips. I've tried tilting the hose metal neck and pulling the collar to release one side at a time. I want to avoid damaging the parts. Short of bending the collar out of shape, I am stumped. It looks like the shop put in the wrong hose for THIS 1205. The hose was working fine, so I do not want to cut it apart, etc. HELP!!

The photos show the hose assembly attached, a close-up of the hose with the metal collar dangling on a slight angle, another close-up of the hose fully removed from the inner receptacle and a photo of the collar with the 2 slots and the clips that are too wide to get through those release slots.

The hose just plugs into the ring. You push the two tabs on the side and then pull it out. Judging by the rust inside the hose this vacuum has been sitting for a long time so the rubber power take off socket is likely swelled up and stuck if not the hose rusted in place. Will take some wiggling and strength to remove it. If you have some aerosol silicone lubricant (not wd40) and squirt that in the tab holes and around the hose plug before pulling.

You will have to reassemble the vacuum and then try again as it's not possible with the entire hose coupler removed from the vacuum.

1205 hose

The problem is the generic hose doesn't have same quality locking tabs and buttons as the original would. Holding as in pic 5 it should be easy to push tabs in with a flat screwdriver and remove. I don't think the rust would hurt or the WD 40 would help.

1205 Hose Removal

Thank you BOTH for the replies. It looks like I was focusing on removing the wrong part; that is I was focused on the final step of removing the hose assembly from the chrome ring, according to the 2008 discussion/photos. If I understand you both, I need to remove the hose from the white plastic ? ring/collar, is that correct?

The circles drawn on Photo 3, indicate that's what needs to be done. I already removed the two tiny screws that secure the chrome sleeve on to the white rubber "neck".

The rust is inside the hose as shown on Photo 5. Do I assume that the white rubber collar is sitting on the rusted metal??

Once removed, I was going to use it on the "newer" Golden Jubilee 1205 that has an "Ultralux" hose that MIGHT need replacing. I did order a "normal" hose, swivel type, from eVacuums. Neither of my 1205s have a swivel hose, but eVacuum was all out of non-swivel hoses. I do hope THEIR hose fits easily!!

Please correct me again if I am about to remove the wrong parts!! Once the rubber connector is removed, will the hose be inoperable?? That is, there will still be the chrome part stuck in the machine, YES?

Simple things first

Only look at this as in your picture 5. The slots are only to line up with the thin electrical contacts. One side at a time push the locking tabs with a screwdriver towards the center until it clears the chrome ring. Hose should release. Don't use again if buttons will not retract locking tabs.

Boy I'll say

I echo Rugsucker's post about not re-using a hose that won't release after you press the buttons to release the locking tabs. Been there with an aftermarket hose that I promptly discarded when it took a small army to get the hose to uncouple.
