It's so strange that I remembered this. But it popped up in my head yesterday when I got the curtains caught in the vacuum. I don't remember when exactly this was. I want to say it was 70s maybe 80s. I'm pretty sure it was a British comedy. I remember the setting being a store and some salesman cleaning up the store. I think it was a Hoover Convertible with attachments. The salesman decided to clean a mannequin and stuck the hose up the skirt up the mannequin and managed to suck the slip and skirt off the mannequin.

I was really young when I saw this. I think it was on PBS. I don't know because it's been so long. I'm not even sure how to look the clip up.

Thoughts?

The first thing that came to my mind, was are you being served?

Andy chance it's Jerry Lewis in "Who's Minding t

There's a segment in that where a Convertible bag blows up like a balloon and it floats around the sales floor

Not it. But still pretty funny. If I remember this was a British TV series and the sales man was using the vacuum with the attachments and sicked the skirt and slip off of the model. Like I said. I was really young.

I think it was the Are You Being Served. It looks familiar.

Now here is a follow-up question: what cylinder vacuum is that?

I'm guessing it was a Hoover.

Model?

You're welcome, Andy!

Yeah, just call me Paul Tracy, Brian—haha!

Unfortunately, I came up short finding the exact model of the vac in the sitcom vid. The closest resemblance I found was a 1960s-looking catalog page of the Hoover model P451 cylinder posted in thread 18746 by uksausage. I surmise that the one in the video is a later model of the P451's styling. What do you think?

It would be helpful if someone would post a model timeline of Hoover Ltd. cylinders.

The video is unfortunately not showing up for me - could you possibly take a screenshot of the cylinder? I used to have a 417G (the same as you pictured above), so I know them in and out. I'll be happy to help!

No, I don't believe that's a Hoover model at all. I'm no expert on other brands, but it seems to have much more of a Goblin look to it, as seen below.
