Hi All,

I am looking for an extra nice Hoover 5450 polisher. Grandmother had one so kinda sentimental. I don’t mind paying well for a really nice example. Can anyone help me out?

Some background ...

 Hi Brian,

Thought you would be interested in some details of the Hoover Floor Polisher Model 5450 along with other Hoover cleaners manufactured around the same time (your grandma may have had one of the other cleaners, too, at one time):

-It and its contemporaries were designed by Melvin Ripple for Hoover in late 1956 and introduced in 1957; being last featured in store advertisements in 1962. A plastic dispenser was made available for it in 1961.

-Its Heather Rose & Pearl White colors matched the Convertible model 65 and Constellation model 85's.

-The hood style matched Hoover USA's other contemporaneous floor-conditioning models: the 5020 primrose yellow & garland green polisher and the 5240 adobe tan & fawn white shampoo-polisher. In 1962 a new hood style and base were introduced on different models.

Now you've got some details to share with others when you find a good replica of your grandma's 5450 Floor Polisher.

Model 5240 colors correction:

 I came across a how-to article in the September 30, 1960, PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE that identified the actual color scheme of the Model 5240 Shampoo-Polisher as Dark and Light Fawn with White—which incidentally matched the Hoover Co. Convertible Model 67/Hoover Ltd. Canada Model 671 and the Hoover Co. Constellation Model 88/Hoover Ltd. Canada Model 881.

By the way, the Model 5137 shampoo-polisher, produced from 1964-67 had the Adobe Tan/Fawn White colors.
