You use rubbing alcohol and clean off the sticky they won't stick together. Congrats on your compact wands.

You can try rubbing a little bit of grease on the outside ends where the wands connect with Super Lube or similar grease and it should keep them from sticking together.

Mentioned rubbing alcohol because it removes sticky residue.

Wands that have been assembled together for a long time will eventually stick together from expansion and contraction and stay like that, or corrode in place. That is why they came off when he poured boiling water on them, as after they cooled they shrunk again which allowed them to separate. Electrolux wands are well known for doing this, and that's why you never store wands away assembled, always leave them separated.

wands that are frozen together

the advise to use a heat gun is great since water can cause rusting of steel wands. Then drop the assembled wands on the carpet & the vibration will do the rest.
