Not worth it.

As I once heard, something is only worth as much as your willing to pay for it.

You could buy an entire car for that price. No way a vacuum should ever be worth that much. Scalpers ruin every hobby they touch.

These vacs all are

really worth only what people will pay for them.  We all may have paid a bit more for a hard to fing.. once in a lifetime... find.

But, like ebay,, if people won't pay,  it won't sell.

I can tell you the reason the Penncrest is so outrageously priced - the seller is Luke Gebhart - his username on here is ohiovac. Same as his Ebay handle. He is one of Tom Gasko's clique, and all the drama that goes on with that crowd. Best to be avoided entirely!

I would bet good money Tom Gasko convinced Luke and Levi that this cleaner was worth a fortune and priced it accordingly. He will learn soon enough that his tired, old, scratched up, off brand Hoover from the mid 60's won't sell so quickly with that kind of pricing.

Not getting too involved, but.....

I'm not sure that Luke (who has always been very nice to me)  is associating with certain collectors anymore.

 Summer...........................

But, to quote Johnny Matthis, "It's not for me to say".

Kenny - You know perfectly well the constant drama that surrounds Luke, Tom and all the collectors in the Facebook groups. Last time I checked, you were in that inner circle too. So don't dare try to deny it. I personally haven't checked those groups out in YEARS....can't be bothered. Life is too short!

John - If what you have heard about Luke is true, then good. As far as I am concerned though, ANYONE who associates with Tom Gasko, or who did in the past, can stay far away from me! I want no part of it!

Well, notgoing into too much, but...............

gottahaveahoove's profile picture

I'm sure you know what has happened to me..I won't give the m public satisfaction..But. The St. Louis contingent , well. you wouldn't believe it if I told you.

But, I simply ignore most of it.  But, I have documentation, etc....

I stay far under that toxic radar.

But, I believe I'm "Public Enemy #1" and my close friend, Tom Anderson is "#2"!

I'm in very good company there.

Wtf

Tom gasko is s stand up contributes more to the vacuum collectors than anyone on this board bar none. The nature of vacuum collectors is the drama type.
Tom is not drama period. Drop the name dropping and accusing people of things.
The seller wants way too much.
Going any further in the topic is unnecessary and is creating drama.
Lay off watch the name dropping and just because you don't like someone doesn't mean you can't act like a fool.

Actually y'all...

Go ahead and ask me for the screenshots. Tom has been terrible to SO MANY people for YEARS and he's lashing out at every last connection due to people figuring out how he operates. He was the first person when I was 12 years old to bully me on this forum, and told me that I was an idiot for wasting my time on old garbage. I had gotten my first true vintage machine, a Rexair B, and he said I was a stupid kid for thinking I had any business collecting, and that he was the only person in the community who knew how to fix it. He told me I had to pay him $500 and make the trip to good ole Missourah. This was destructive as a budding collector, and he and people like him continued to pick and bully me for years to come. I don't deal with it for shit anymore, and I'm sure he has just as many unpleasant things to say about me that I do him.

I digress though, in spite of his true nature coming to light in a spectacular fashion, there will forever remain those few who cling to him as is he is a God in the community, and will never see him for who he truly is. I only hope that they can figure it out before he thrashes their lives too.

There's a good reason

Tacony kicked him to the curb and he fled town. Ask some of the reputable collectors, they have the real story.

GottaHaveaHoove and Kloveland are correct!

There are many who are no longer friends with a certain individual and crowd due to awful occurrences just 5 months ago. Many lost who they thought was a great friend. But the ship has sailed.

We all try to see the good in things, meet and judge people for ourselves. Some times new friendships can be formed but for how long we never know. All curtains eventually close and it closed hard this time! I wasn't even in town to see it, just heard the aftermath and I was unfriended by some who I thought was a good friend all because I was back home attending a wedding and didn't make the travel for an annual convention.

Is a vacuum board not air your dirty laundry board.
If you don't like someone talk to someone don't post about it.
Is it hard to understand don't post your drama $hit on here.
IDGAF and it'd not vintage vacuum related.
Moving on and I do mean moving on like grown respected adults.

As I stated...

gottahaveahoove's profile picture

I am not, not contributing to any of the drama, etc.   Not naming, etc.   I've been through the wringer for years. I, too, lost friends, yrs ago.  I know plenty. But will not get in trouble with my mouth.    I  do hope someone who'll want that Penncrest csn/will pY  decent price. Until then, that price will dangle.⅕

I meant no drama by it

But that's honestly the very first time I've mentioned on this forum how he treated me at the very start. This community doesn't have to be threatening or make anyone feel excluded, and it breaks my heart that his actions have done so much damage to so many people. I just hope things improve more than they have already started to
