Thought I show you guys my latest early birthday gift I got from my sister. It's a Hoover Elite II from 1992. I always wanted mid range Elite upright with a sliding bag top. When I got this from the delivery truck, I took everything apart and gave it a spa treatment and when I found out I was getting this vacuum, I got a matching NOS outer bag since it came with a dirty white replacement bag. I also installed a new 20 bladed fan, LED bulb, and a HEPA bag. I even switched tool storages between my burgundy Elite II Energy Efficient and my blue one to make the blue one original. It came with a deluxe tool storage with a stretch hose and that's on my burgundy Elite II Energy Efficient. And last but not least I put in a CWP brushroll and it's a fun vacuum to use too.

Nice work!

Your sister is kind and supportive to get you that. It looks great with its original bag jacket and tools. HEPA bag and 20 blade fan are enhancements which are very worthwhile. Those 20 blade units are hard to come by but they sure improve the sound.

I’ve always had a soft spot for Hoover Elites. They are perhaps my favorite line of “classic” vacuums. The earlier Elites with narrow slide top bags, like yours, are especially appealing, in my opinion. These looked better than the later slide tops which were wider.

Good find! I think my grandma had one but I don't really remember, it might have been in green or purple.

I'm not much of an Elite person myself but I really do like the looks of that blue one. Something that I wouldn't mind having for the collection or even use one as a consumer since I do think they're nice cleaning machines. Was that the Legacy II next to that Elite II?

How different is the sound

Between the original fan and the 20 blade? I've noticed that my power drive supreme has a softer sound than some of the earlier Elite models... And I remember seeing a couple of replacement fans out there that kind of had a wave design. Is that the updated version?

Panasonicvac, yes that's a Legacy II. I got it from eBay back in mid December as a Christmas/early birthday gift for myself and arrived after the beginning of January since the seller was on holiday. It needed a motor housing since the original one was badly cracked around but it runs well and all it needs is some attachments. It has a 20 blade fan too.

EvolutionClean1, the 20 bladed fans always had that interesting wavey design ever since the Elite motors were upgraded to a 12 amp.

Well then

The fan on my PD must be original, as it's a 7.8 amp motor 😂
I've had good luck with the last couple of Elite platform machines I've owned, both the 5.0 I foolishly gave away and the PD sound fantastic. The bearings in both are still very happy so I don't have to worry about servicing them. Plus, I'd imagine the hard bag cover on the PD quiets it down even more 🤷
Still one of my favorite machines in the collection!

Love that blue color! I'm glad it's still in use and has a loving home
