Were you able to line the staircase with vacuums as in years past? I've nicknamed your entrance the "Stairway to Hoover." Billy |

Whenever I remember Gloria’s words during the Christmas season, it always triggers an image of a dust bag punctured by 100’s of pine needles sucked up by a vacuum! Those needles can’t be safe for a regular domestic vac…maybe a bagless shop vac?
(In my Jewish world, our challenge is simpler: vacuuming up matza crumbs off the carpet during the week of Passover!!!!) |

Hey Brian.
I do have to say; one of the Electroluxes that I rescued from the curb looked like someone had used it to vacuum their yard. The bag was so beyond packed with not only pine needles, but even small twigs and such, that it was actually backed up into the hose. In spite of all that, I don't believe that any of it had punctured the bag! I was fully expecting the bag compartment to be a total disaster, and it wasn't. And, back when we still used to get real trees, we never had a problem with the needles. Our vacuum (and bag) handled them with ease! Matzo crumbs made me laugh, though. We're not Jewish, but my mom loves those! The matzo...not the crumbs. 🙂 |

Hi Barry!!!! That’s good to know that pine needles from Christmas trees do not puncture vacuum bags!!!! It’s amazing how many old vintage Christmas ads for vacuums show the trees right next to the shiny, new, unpacked vacuum!
I actually used to love using our Eureka uprights to vacuum our carpeting in the dining room during Passover!!! The matza crumbs were all over the place and the Eurekas did a great job making the crumbs “dance” before disappearing under the motor head!!!!! 😂😂😂 |

Looks like the Hoover did a great job, John. :) I have an artificial tree myself, rubber, but it's getting so old now the rubber needles are breaking off, and it makes a mess just like a real tree! How about that? lol I think it must have been one of the first rubber made ones (got it in 2012). I have a pine tree in my back yard so I know all about the pain from stepping on stray needles, so gotta have a nice vacuum to get every last one of those little buggers, thats for sure |
