Greetings and Happy New Year!

Question, which have you found to have stronger suction? A Hoover Portapower or a GE portable vacuum cleaner?

Anyone?

Does anyone own both or have tried either? I want power and lighter weight...corded and bagged. Something that I can lift and carry while I dust up top. Sort of like a Shark Lift-away, but not a Shark as they are bagless.

If you are referring to the GE MV1 portable against the PortaPower by Hoover, the Hoover is much more powerful.

If you want a really powerful bagged version of the Shark Lift Away, look at the rose-gold Kenmore Intuition Bagged upright…it’s recommended by Consumer Reports and has a nice wide extra large upholstery nozzle with velcro lint-picker strips. It has a “Lift Up” option to take the canister off the motorized carpet nozzle.

Thank

you both. So the Hoover and the Kenmore. I will look into both. Thanks a million!

Surprised...

I remembered I had an Sanitaire /Eureka Mighty Mite in the garage and thought I could use it, to carry and do my dusting. I did not remember it was as heavy as it is. I hope the Hoover Portapower is lighter.

Oh my,

So I serviced the Swingette and boy, is that motor huge. I also got a Commercial Portapower to work on.

Verdict, I will be using the Portapower because, is it lighter. That was one of my goals, to be able to dust with it.

I will have to borrow a Hoover dusting brush from my tilt Constellation or mint green suitcase Hoover.

I guess Hoover made horsehair brushes....yes?

If you're looking for a lightweight, bagged, powerful canister then the Perfect C105 or similar is where you want to look!

From internet photos, you might confuse the C105 to a Sanitaire/ Eureka Mighty Mite style machine. It is not! The Perfect is larger, not by a ton but it's slightly larger and has a much larger bag that is HEPA. The body is much more durable plastic. The hose has metal ends and it has extreme suction power! It has more powerful suction than most full sized canisters and uprights.

You can also find it branded under the Bissell Big Green commercial line. Here is an Amazon link for the Bissell. I recommend checking out local vacuum stores, they should have one to try.

Many of the models also offer a socket on the body of the machine to run a power nozzle.

Thank you,

Rob. I will consider the Bissell. The Commercial Portapower is powerful enough, but it would be great for an even lighter unit. I will take down my GE's and test the power and weight.

You're welcome. The PortaPower is a good machine. But if you want something with a lot more power, larger bag capacity, a wheeled system, the Bissell or Perfect will prove well for you. If you think of it and get a chance, check out or even call your local vac shop to see if they have one in stock to demo.

I second Rob's response. Those Perfect Canisters are very beefy when compared to the Mighty Mite style canister still being produced today. They have rubber coated wheels and a three prong cord. Plus the hose tapers from 1.25" to 1.5" for more power.
