Hello all,
I have two Panasonic platinum uprights. They're almost identical in the platinum silver color. One has the brush roll shut off and one does not. The headlight lenses
are different. One is sort of an oval wrap around type and the other has a more rectangular shape like the newer machines that were released more recently. Both have metal brush rolls. I was wondering if some one could tell me which one is newer, and if the brush rolls are interchangeable. The models are MC-V5248 and MC-V7358. Any information would be most welcome.

I own both

They were sold the exact same time in the early 2000's, my old local vacuum store had them both side by side on display. The MC-V5248 is a step above the MC-V7358 because of the clutch. Unfortunately the brushrolls cannot be swapped, they're both different.

Panasonic vac question

@panasonicvac

Thanks so much for the information! I was actually hoping that you would see my post. I have learned a lot of Panasonic info from your posts. I will probably get rid of the one without the clutch. I have limited space; so can't keep both. It's a shame since I did put a new metal brush roll on it. If anyone is interested in it, hit me up on here.

Honestly

If you're looking to keep one that has better performance, the MC-V7358 is what I'd hang onto instead. My MC-V5248 has a much harder time making contact onto the lower pile carpeting if you watch my video.

Panasonic

@panasonic vac

The machine I have is just like yours in the video, but the model # is MC-V7358. The model I have without the clutch is MC-V5248. That was the one I was going to part with. Do you think that the discrepancy in the model numbers may be a different manufacturing year?

Actually

Mine is technically the MC-V7358, looks like someone put the wrong model number on it now that I've looked closer at it.
