Nice find, Rob!
That sounds like the mixer I grew up with. Once we had our own home, I felt like I needed one of my own. I ended up acquiring two over the years. Some of us would absolutely enjoy seeing a picture or two of it! I may have even posted a picture of mine in the "Household" category when I first got it. I'd say that's a pretty good deal, too! I paid considerably more for mine; especially since I had to pay for shipping.

About 3 years ago, a friend on the washer site found a brand new in the box, never used Sunbeam 1-80 mixer at a home where the contents were being removed. He knew I was looking for a Sunbeam so he sent me the mixer.

I've got two variations of the chrome Mixmaster. One is essentially like the one in Reply #1. The other one is a Mixmaster Vista that has a brown base and a work light under the motor unit, which also is brown.
Both mixers were cobbled together. The Vista came to me with no bowls, but was otherwise complete, including the dough hooks. I first sourced a set of glass ones from two different thrift shops, but later found a set of stainless ones for it. The glass bowls now reside with the other one, which was sourced "Johnny Cash" style, one piece at a time. They're both great mixers. If I were to get rid of one of the mixers, I'd keep the Vista and put it on the chrome base. |

I've seen these chrome ones with glass bowls, did they come with glass too? I don't think I'd ever have this one, metal bowls give me the heebie jeebies, like nails on a chalkboard, I hate that scraping sound. If you want to bury yourself in Mixmaster mixers, just go on shopgoodwill.com. They often go unsold all the time for $5. Last one I bought was only $8 to ship it from Wyoming and I got it solely because it had a bowl I needed for another mixer (miraculously it didn't break in shipping). I sometimes see them in my actual Goodwill but they always want $30+ for them and the motor is well past cooked and they need a complete overhaul. |
