Hi. I have an Electrolux Epic 6000 and 2 Epic 6500s. I notice the sound of the 6000 is different than the other 2. Did Electrolux change/update the motor used in the 6500s? If so, are they Electrolux motors? The 6500s are not as quiet as the 6000. I'm just curious. Thanks.

I think the HP motor (introduced circa 1989) was used for the 6000 along with other Electrolux USA budget- and mid-level tank-type vacuum cleaners at the time. Not 100%, but presume that the 6500 was equipped with the same tank motor as the Renaissance Model C104A as their AW ratings were the same; albeit other factors besides motors can also contribute to AW ratings. Here are the main specs of each, compliments of longtime Electrolux salesman John Anderson (tig21er) along with my research of the power nozzle models (with different specs):

1992-93 Epic 6000SR Model 1718: 299 airwatts, braided hose, standard wands,
power nozzle model 1750

1993-94 Epic 6500SR Model 1762: 330 airwatts, vinyl hose, electric wands,
power nozzle model 1684

For reference, the tank motor amps and other specs are stamped on the inside of the bag doors; the model numbers may be hidden under the inlet gaskets. The power nozzle specs are stamped on the bottoms. I believe both pn models above are rated at 1.8-amps. It's possible that at least one of yours may be a different model due to a salesperson or factory switch or replacement.
