So yesterday at the Grace Bridge store, all items were 50% off so I went to go look at the vacuums and nothing much unfortunately. All they had was a Hoover Nano Lite (I used to have one), a couple of Bissell stock vacs, and came across something more interesting than the others. A Hoover Spirit canister from the early 90's. It runs pretty good and it did came with the original hose (which needs a replacement locking ring), 2 chrome wands, and the deluxe floor tool. All it really needs is a good clean up but I don't know how to take it apart completely. So far I removed the screws from the pre motor filter. But don't what else.

Nice vac. I like them best as straight suction paired with an upright. The rear has 2 tabs with screws under foam strip over filter. Make 1 knife cut over center of screws and peel foam strip back in both directions. Remove screws. Then lift cover from front and unsnap at rear

It's almost taken apart for cleaning. How do I get the cord removed?

I believe from the inside you have to push on the crimp connector with needle-nose pliers or a tiny screwdriver while at the same time prying it outward from the outside to get the grommet to pop out of the housing, but be careful not to pierce the cord.
