Here is some of the data from the shipping record, which I have reformatted slightly. My hunch is that serial number 75037 (May 1964) is the last 260-B before it was replaced with the 260-E. (It's circled and underlined on the shipping record.)

Notes:

Entry for 05/1964 is circled and underlined. My best guess is that this serial number is the last number of the 260-B, marking the transition to the 260 E.

Nice work, Nick, thanks.

Something puzzling to me is the continuation of serial numbers from Types A to B, because I thought all the Bs had chrome hoods.

Btw, I wonder if Eureka made sales sheets like Hoover? If so, I would think they might indicate differences between types.

They did

I requested them from the McLean Museum

I hope you can get scans of them at some point!

Btw, you're the reason I got interested in Eureka data. It's hard to believe that no one on VL has attempted to collect it—or at least they haven't posted it.

Texbodemer - Since you are already in contact with the Mclean Museum, is there any chance you could ask for any images or additional data they have on the early models? Even as late as the G-R-M series and M262. I could not find a way to request images of individual documents as I could not find said documents, just mentions of Eureka scrap books and the like. Thanks!

Thanks!

Paul,

Thanks! I'm glad I could help!

Hoover300--The scrapbooks contain a lot of the info. Really, the key is to ask them more about the periods. I'll save that for my next round. (They have a very small staff.)
