Over the last few years I've added to my collection and last month I finally got around to taking some pictures. Just got them back today (11/31) from being processed and scanned into my computer, so here they are. All have had the initial wipe-down but will get a more in-depth cleaning and restoration as time allows. First is my Air-Way Sanitizor Model 77 that was a gift from Norm Brown (thanks again Norm!) back in 2009. I posted a pic of it before, but after I got an Attach-A-Carrier with attachments for it on ebay and posted the ebay pic, some of you said you'd like to see one of it hanging on the Air-Way, so here it is.
Next is a Penncrest Convertible Model A117 with cleaning tools. I got this on Sept. 29, 2013 from the estate of a family friend, whom I remember each time I run it. She was its first and only owner and took great care of it, and it runs great. Next is a Hoover Decade 80 Model U4381. It was a trash find, sitting at the curb about 2 blocks from home. My wife Lena picked it up and brought it home in Sept. 2019. Runs great but needs a new belt, bulb, and cord stress relief.
Next is the first of 2 Kirby Heritage II's. My daughter's boyfriend found it in a dumpster in December of 2019 and brought it to me. Runs great and I have since added a hose, attachments with caddy, and instruction book. Only missing the wands. The 2nd Heritage II was also a trash find, found at the curb on May 12 by a guy that was working with my daughter's boyfriend. Newer than the other one, it has the "streamlined" nozzle with the brush rotation sensor. The cord had a bad short in it where it clips to the handle and I have since replaced it, and it runs fine.
Next is a group shot of a Frankenkirby and 2 Filter Queens I found on may 13 at an estate sale. They were in a shed with a sign over them that said "Vacuums, $5 each." Needless to say, I snatched them up real quick! There was also a Dirt Devil there but I left it sit. The first Filter Queen is a model 33, and only had a dusting brush and upholstery nozzle with slider with it, no hose, wands, or any other attachments. Runs good and is quiet, has a cordwinder but the cord should be replaced. I have a rug nozzle and hose on hand for it, just need the wands. The 2nd Filter Queen is a model 31X with power nozzle and is pretty much complete. Runs great and is quiet until you hook up the power nozzle! Did a great job of cleaning and grooming the carpet when I tried it out.
Last but not least, the Frankenkirby! It started out as a D-80, but has a bojack replacement bag, Classic III handle, wheels, and cord, 500 series bumpers, and a Tradition belt lifter. Runs ok but could be better, maybe bearings?
Jeff

Great vacs

My favorite here would be the RARE Penncrest!

Great collection, Jeff. Yes, that Frankenkirby is indeed the product of many models. I love the Penncrest!

Thank You!

Thank you all for your compliments and I'm glad you enjoyed the pics! These are just part of my collection, vacs I've gotten over the last several years that I hadn't gotten around to photographing until this October, except for the Air-Way which I had photographed before, but when I got the Attach-A-Carrier for it several people said they would like to see a pic of it on the Air-Way. I have posted many of the others on here from time to time.
Jimmy and John, I knew the Penncrest was rare and that was one of the reasons I snatched it up when I got the chance. The other was sentimental. The lady whose estate it came from was my Mother-in-Law's best friend, whom we claimed as a member of our family and was always a welcomed guest at family gatherings. Garry, I'm assuming when you said "mint" you were referring to the color, because it is far from being in mint condition. Much work yet to be done on it. David, if my Heritage II's look half as nice as yours after I polish them I'll be happy!
Jimmy, I remember you saying you had some Kirby parts and attachments to get rid of in your shop cleanout. Don't know if you would still have what I need, but here's a list. For the Heritage II, I need the black wands, curved and straight. I'm probably going to share the attachments between the two Heritage II's, but if you have an extra complete set I might change my mind on that. For my Kirby Classic (the original, NOT the Omega) I need a hose, I have everything else. For my D-80 (NOT the Frankenkirby pictured here but an actual restored D-80) I need a complete set of cleaning attachments with hose and a tank with cap for the Rug Renovator. Also need a complete set of attachments with hose for my son's D-50, which he took with him when he moved out. For the model 33 Filter Queen pictured here (the pinkish-tan one) I need a pair of wands and a crevice tool. For Royal or Electro-Hygiene, I need a couple grey and/or light blue crevice tools, a pair of wands with red ends, a hose for straight suction models with black cuffs on both ends, a couple extra black cuffs, and strip brushes for straight suction models. Let me know what you have, what you want for it, and how much for shipping. Thank you,
Jeff

77 Air-Way

Jeff,
got to go with the 77 Air-Way. Just because of my age, that was the first vacuum I remember then coming around door-to-door selling. It seemed like like 1/2 of our town had Air-ways back in those days. I was excited when they brought that new color 77 in the house. Of course my parents didn't buy a new one as they already had a 66.

I never liked the fact that HOOVER put their name on the Penny's vacuums. It seemed like a down grade to the HOOVER name but I do remember the catalogs selling them and I am sure they are rare. Nice collection.

Jeff

I have almost any accessories for Heritage and newer Kirby. Just this week I am finding more 50s-70s Kirby accessories than I thought was here. There is much less Royal but I know there are metal wands with different color ends. I have very little time for vacuums but will start working your list as I can.

Electro, thank you for your compliment. As I mentioned previously, this is just part of my collection, some of my more recent acquisitions. As for the Air-Way, I also have a 55A and two 66's. As for the Penncrest name on Hoover-built vacuums, it's not downgrading at all, it's called private labeling, and many manufacturers did it. Birtman (and later Whirlpool) Built for Sears, Westinghouse and Eureka built for Wards, Royal built vacuums for several different companies. Basically the idea was that the customer would agree to buy a quantity of vacuums at a given price and the manufacturer would build it to their specifications, and it was always a deal that would benefit both parties. By the way, where are you in Indiana? I have a sister-in-law and brother-in-law in Fremont, which is near Angola, which is a suburb of Auburn.
Jimmy, thank you for your quick response, and I appreciate you working on my list. No hurry on my end, but I know from your post in the Super Market forum that you are in kind of a hurry to get the building cleared out. Thank you also for posting your phone number. When is the best time to call?
Jeff

Should have much on your list. Usually good to call afternoons.

Very nice! I get so jealous whenever I hear about people finding things on the street. I NEVER find anything vintage on the street or trash! I used to get lucky finding interesting things in thrift shops, but lately that has dried up and now it's mostly just modern junk from the 90's and 2000's. I got my Electrolux Model G on Craigslist, if I remember right, but now it seems like people are apparently starting to realize that vintage appliances are desirable and even there vacuums are going for higher prices.

Thank you Chris, for the compliment. And don't get too jealous over the trash finds. Out of my entire collection only 5 were trash finds, including the Hoover Decade 80 and the two Kirby Heritage II's pictured above, and also My Kirby 512 and Hoover 305.
And Jimmy, Definitely add that Electro-Hygiene box to my list! It brings back memories of when I sold them in 1974 and again in 1976. The trunk of my 65 Impala was full of boxes like that with brand new Electro-Hygiene 903 uprights and 966 tanks in them! Also, if you have any of the attachment caddys for the EH tank you can add those to my list as well. Thank you,
Jeff

I may have a grey one in a different area.

That caddy is just what I need for my 260 Royalaire! I do have the full set of attachments for it, but I'm sure I could use the ones shown in the caddy for another Royal or Electro-Hygiene. Here's a pic of my Royalaire 260. Thanks,
Jeff
