I forgot where I left the carpet attachment for the Kirby and came around the corner with a laundry basket and kicked them rug attachment, barefoot. It sat me down. I started to swell up and couldn't walk that well. Brent said I needed a trip to the ER. We went. They did X-rays. I broke my small toe. That's going to hurt for a while.

I feel bad for laughing, Andy. I hope you feel better soon.
But, it sounds so much like something I would do, that it just made me laugh.
My broken toes story (the only bones I've ever broken) involved a piano. How do you miss a piano, you might ask. I guess the punchline could be; I didn't miss it!
Again, hope it heals well, and quickly.

I wish you a quick recovery - I know the feeling.
I constantly hurt my toes on them when around them, thanks to my evolving clumsiness.
I have ran the self propelled Kirby into my feet a few times also. Luckily i have hard bones.
I should start wearing house shoes to prevent the flesh wounds...

But, Barry (may I call you Barry)?...  were you PLAYING that piano when said injuries occurred?

Perhaps you need a lighter touch.  (Sorry, was a music teacher for 20+ years.) Was TOO easy.

John,

You may certainly call me Barry.

I was not playing the piano at the time of the incident. LOL

But, I got visions of Jerry Lee Lewis or something, banging out some high notes with his foot!

I was never quite that “colorful” with my playing style!

Oh no! Awful! I've done that many times, smashing my toes on something. The good news is your little toe has virtually no bones in it, so you should be alright after a few days or a week with no care needed, maybe an ice pack.

Takes me back to a former vac shop owner whose mother was buffing Kirby castings. A D80 rug nozzle slipped out of her hand and went directly into her foot. It healed after a few months, but it was awful.

I am a bit surprised that the manuals for the G series do not have recommendation of wearing house shoes.
In the video 'manuals' the operators are shown with shoes on but they are not specifically recommended.

I dropped a Kirby Classic Omega on my bare foot one time. I was in my early teens when that bone headed move happened. Those back wheels and casting sure to get your attention when that happens. foot was sore for several days.

RainbowD4C hope your foot feels better soon.

I'm doing okay. I have a nice little boot o. That I have to wear. This toe I have messed up a few times before. LOL. This is also one reason why I use canister more. They aren't as bad i you kick them. LOL

Ouch! I once dropped a Dirt Devil car vac (the black 12v copy of the iconic red hand vacs) on my big toe, barefoot on concrete (garage floor), the bottom of the box fell out as I was moving it, and the corner of the nozzle hit my toe just behind the first knuckle. Definitely broke it completely but I don't do Dr's unless I'm dead or dying. Couldn't get a shoe on that foot for a few days. Years later I can feel the break, it healed about 1/8" off center. Gets a little stiff but no lasting pain anyway.

Yeah, this is why I wear shoes when I mess with vacuums, unlike most of the people I see in the YouTube videos, who seem to like to vacuum barefoot. As a diabetic, I know I need to protect my feet.
