So at a local thrift store I scored this little guy, it does work, ive popped the hood off and used the kirby to get all the dust bunnies, there oddly is no plate on this one showing its serial/ date made, biggest question, how does one use one of these old things? also the cord is starting to dry rot I know

Congrats!

It appears to be a model HCS11 according to Vacuumland thread 2219, reply #3.

The twin brush polisher-scrubber was made in various styles by many companies. The Hotpoint brand was owned by G-E, so parts such as replacement brushes or pads may be identical. The G-E model CS12-B, for example, has the same styling as yours.

There's currently a Hoover twin brush floor polisher instruction booklet listed on eBay, which would provide usage information for you.

March 29 1951 Ad

Although the only model specified in this 2-photo CALGARY HERALD ad is the HVF84A Hotpoint floor vacuum, the line drawing looks similar to yours.

Btw, the only ads I was able to find for Hotpoint Floor Polishers were Canadian and Australian.

It does work, and the carbon brushes look to have lots of life left on them still, as does the armature doesn't seem to have a groove worn into it yet, my grandparents had a similar shaped one but I think it was the GE salmon colored unit, odds are the GE instructions would be the same as the HotPoint if I had to take a guess
