Hi David,

The main differences between the 562 and Sanitronic VII are...

562:
Darker coppertone hue
Off-white cord with coppertone plugs
Still has separate metal suction coupling and plastic blower coupling for hose
Coppertone transparent Crystalator body with gray cover

Sanitronic VII:
Lighter coppertone hue
All-coppertone cord
New hose with permanently attached combination suction/blower coupling
New Crystalator body (still transparent coppertone) with coppertone cover

You can also differ an early Sanitronic VII from a newer one by the logo on the bottom. Early units had a circlular logo on the model tag while later ones had the oval logo. Both units still had the tightly packed circle logos on the outer bag. The emptor also doesn't have the sweet aire dummy on newer ones.

Sanitronic 7 had a variation of white on tan cord. I think all the sanitronics did up to ds 50. Hmc or Chris I'm pretty sure had a s7 with white on it. I have a 562 dark sparkly cord.
