They have metal cording in them and brittle rubber so I would presume soaking is not going to work. Maybe a soft toothbrush and a non detergent soap and hot water. It would take a long time though. You might be able to get away with submerging it and washing it quickly but you'd need to have a blower fan to shoot air through it and over it immediately after washing, so it doesn't rust the metal spring and deteriorate the rubber. Good idea would be to buy a bunch of junk hoses or ask someone to give some to you and just try out different methods and see what makes the best result. I know members here in the past posted on how to re-coat the inside with new rubber, so maybe best to only wash it before restoration and let the rubber get ruined and then re-coat new rubber to make a fully restored hose. |
