I just saw the news today from DrainVac International online, they're the new central vac owners of NuTone as well as Broan and Venmar. They even have NuTone listed on DrainVac's website now. I already have mixed thoughts about this. The good is I really like the DrainVac company. The bad is I don't think they're going to change NuTone, it'd probably be exactly what Nuera Air did with Beam when they acquired them from Electrolux is not changing a single thing.

interesting

That's really interesting, they are kind of opposite. Drainvac is a really high quality central vacuum, I have several of their units, on the other hand, Nutone always seems to have been a budget central vacuum on the lower end.

Mike, that's probably the very reason DrainVac acquired NuTone - to have a lower end budget central vac offering.

Honestly

There are better cheaper alternatives to NuTone like OVO, Husky, or Allegro. The Pure Power line is just trash in my opinion, I think it'd be wiser if DrainVac discontinued them. I would like to see if they can either change or use the existing designs, I know I wouldn't want them to go back to the crappy VX line. I also would like for them to discontinue their electric powerhead, it's also trash in my opinion.

Actually, DrainVac did in fact discontinued the Pure Power line. I noticed just recently on NuTone's website that not only the central vacs aren't listed anymore but also they got rid of all their central vac products from the recent customer review responses by NuTone. I reached out to both NuTone and DrainVac for clarification and these are the responses I received.

From NuTone: "We have exited the central vacuum category and will not be coming out with new products. We now refer all central vacuum inquiries to Drainvac directly for more assistance. Here is the information we have been providing. As of August 31, 2023, we have discontinued our Broan-NuTone Venmar central vacuum product line. Please contact Drainvac for all your parts and product needs."

From DrainVac (through thinkvacuums.com): "Drainvac has purchased Nutone, they will be re-vamping them down the road. Right now all the machines that are left over out there are made in China. Relays and motors proprietary from China."

So basically, it sounds like we're expecting to get new products eventually from NuTone which I think is great! I wouldn't be surprised if they're going to be rebranded DrainVac units but certainly they're alot better than the PP units. I wouldn't mind if they went back to the CV line which I think were my personal favorite from NuTone, probably my third overall favorite bagged units or second favorite bottom emptying bagged units. Highly doubt they ever will but I just hope they won't ever bring back the VX line which I also doubt they ever will either. Or, we could see something that's entirely brand new which is a possibility. Or there's a possible chance they'd contract with another company to make cheaper units for NuTone since DrainVac is rather on the more expensive side. Anyways, we'll see what would also change for the accessories. I'm pretty sure the electric powerhead is gone now, wouldn't be surprised if they'll be equipped with the cheap ESSCO nozzle. I think the hoses and attachments will remain since they're all the same as what DrainVac uses. And I'm not sure if DrainVac is keeping the traditional NuTone inlets or not. I know there are plastic oval inlets Hayden makes that are labeled as DrainVac, not sure if they're still doing that anymore.
