At a recent estate sale I found that barn finds are not just for cars!

Those look like they would be alot of fun to restore. Everything is there. I love bringing back rust buckets into usable condition.

You've done a good day's work on them already. It will be interesting to see how they progress. There was a Hoover like that in the basement at my grandparents' house when I was a kid. I never saw it in use, but I remember being scared of it. No idea what became of it.

I can just picture a black widow under the motor shell...

I'm always nervous when tearing into an old machine that was stored in a shed, attic, garage or barn. I have an irrational fear of black widow spiders. Luckily I haven't come across any even though a few vacs I've taken were just covered in webs.

I've been an HVACR tech for almost eight years now and the absolute worst part of the job out of anything in my opinion (even compressor terminal blowouts!) is encountering a black widow, especially in confined spaces. Doesn't happen too often but you'll go into a crawlspace, attic or whatever and there they are. Day ruined, lol

Barn Vacs

The price was low.The Hoover runs well on both speeds with a good fan. The GE doesn't run for unknown reasons. The replacement Hoover bag is in the nearest trash can. I have little time for them. Does anyone want to continue the fun? I have seen 1 black widow spider years ago in a downtown parking lot and it was 1 to many. Has anyone noticed that this is not just an old Hoover but is a Mo 150?

Could I see a pic of the light bulb "cavern" on the GE? On this design the belts tended to wear through the metal until there was a hole in the casting behind the bulb.

GE

Will try for pictures later. I did notice that bulb wires are taped at end and socket seems to be missing.

"a hole"

Seems to be one problem the GE doesn't have.

So cool that this old GE had a headlight right at the lower front bumper! Years before Raymond Loewy’s revolutionary Singer upright. Would love to see a video of that light illuminating the surface of a rug! Amazing!!!
