I recently inherited my grandma's Kirby Sanitronic 562 that I've been playing with literally my whole life, and I'm now making it into more of a daily driver. I got a mini-emptor and a Heritage II bag, and that's working out great.

Unfortunately the handle spring is broken and I hear that's kind of an awful job - but there's a D50 motor housing with a good spring on eBay. Is there any reason a D50 rear housing won't fit on my 562? They certainly look the same but I wasn't sure if there might be some incompatible screw holes or anything like that.

I figured that might be easier than trying to fix the spring, at least for right now.

Yes

That housing will fit your machine.

Feel free to reach out if you ever want someone to make it gorgeous!

That's a very nice looking DS50 Kyle! Out of curiosity, have you ever restored a 512 before?

Alex-

Not specifically a 512… but that style model, yes. Many.
I have a 513 restoration coming up that I’ll be posting here :)

I'm looking forward to see how the 513 turns out! I have a 512 that I originally thought of sending over to Kirby for a factory rebuild until I saw they recently changed their prices so I'll be looking to have somebody else do mine instead;)

Thanks all! I ordered the part and hopefully it does the trick. I appreciate the confirmation that it will fit.
