For my birthday last week, I received these "cleaning slippers" as a bit of a gag gift. They are designed for hands-free cleaning, such as dusting and mopping. The pads on each slipper are removable and machine-washable. Thoughts on this crazy product?

Try these on for size.

Believe it or not this was sold. And if you think that's strange, try the rocking chair vacuum cleaner.

Happy birthday!

I kind of like those cleaning slippers. Might as well have something to show for it when you're shuffling around the house in the morning.

Alex, those patents are wild! Wonder if any "bellows vacuum shoes" or "rocking chair vacuum" devices were ever sold.

The rocking chair would lend itself to a bellows action, but that appears to be a rotary pump on the back of the chair.

Those slippers are a unique idea for sure, especially for those who shuffle their feet.
It would take a while to get the whole room clean though.
I knew someone whose cat loved being dragged sideways/upside down across the slick floor. I thought they were just playing. He joking replied that it reduces the vacuuming.
That would have been faster than the slippers I suppose....
Their house was pretty clean to start with, cat was just picking up his own hair, and was brushed at the end.

Now the bellows on the feet were a really good thought. Would require some getting used to though.

It would be fun cleaning the floor downstairs with these slippers.

Caligula, as for the devices shown in those patents, I have seen similar devices being used in the beginning of the Fantom Cyclone XT infomercial. It starts off with a black-and-white clip of a house being cleaned in old times. One device had a rocking bellows, and another had a hand pump. As the voice-over stated, "Imagine trying to vacuum with these contraptions! Those were the good old days?" The infomercial is available on YouTube.

I haven't yet seen cleaning slippers like that. I think it's really pratical and confortable to wear as shoes at home.
