They were very much their own thing. Mine uses a standard brushroll setup but their original used, well, this(below). I hope to find one of these one day.
As far as I can tell they were absorbed by Westinghouse in the mid 30s as I found an ad for a Westinghouse branded one of these(second pic on left) right around the time Sweeper Vac branded stuff disappeared. Sorry for bad ad pic quality, I couldn't find the original pic so had to find one I already sent and screenshot it. |

Here's my SweeperVac, similar to the one in the drawing. It has a lever that you moved to go between straight suction and motor driven brush. Started working on it when I got it, put it on the "back burner," and that's where it's been ever since.

The fan case I am not worried about as I have tracked down a spare. The entire back plate broke the solder joint and the local welder won't touch it. I jb welded it for now.
The motor has issues. The biggest one being a shorted commutator bar so it arcs a lot and refuses to run correctly. Did not know that before I bought it, yay! lol |
