If you have wool carpet , braided rugs or wool hook rugs that CANNOT and SHOULD NOT be cleaned with a revolving brush try this little trick.
I still have the original rug tool that came with the Rainbow Rexair models A,B. It was a wonderful simple design with a pivoting head. The tool remains flat to your carpet no matter how you hold it. By raising the wand "UP" it concentrates the air flow and suction for a stubborn spot.

The original Rexair design of the wands were much longer so the user had the angle of the wand at a lower position. The NEW Rainbows use a shorter wand system. You can remedy this by purchasing an EXTRA section of wand. This allows the rug tool to work as designed. No bending over and it really gets the sand and fine grit out of my rugs that CANNOT be cleaned with a revolving brush. Because of the smaller footprint, it concentrates the suction and it came with a full wrap around rubber bumper to protect furniture.
The extra wand section is also handy when cleaning and dusting high places around the house.

Simple fix for a well designed all metal rug tool. The Tool can also be stored on your Rainbow just like the fuller brush on the back when not in use.

So,once again,--

You are right Jimmy! Just think of how Electrolux had it RIGHT when they designed the 1950s E machine with the new flip over tool and the combo dusting brush and sofa tool. They had a good design with the easy to change no spill bag and so did Air-Way with their Sani-bags and well designed tools. Those machines were so balanced and quiet in use. Clay was right , that first little black Rexair I used many years ago worked fine. It was lightweight and easy to handle too.
