Looking at some of the posts on this forum has inspired me to get two of my old vacs out of the shed and bring them back to life and beauty.
I've got a Hoover 700 upright that I found in the garbarge in Jersey City when I was living there 15 years ago. Also a Singer handheld H6 model, bought non working at a junk store in Vermont for 2 dollars, now rewired and raring to go.
Both need bags. I see one bag on the Henry co site called a "hoover legacy." will that bag fit my 700? Are other alternatives available. ?
Also, I did an initial clean on the base of the 700 with nonabrasive powder and metal polish. It's not clear if it is chrome or some base metal alloy. Will it polish up with a buffer?
Last, should the Hoover triangle badge be orange? There are some few traces of orange paint left.
Some poor quality photos, but they give the idea.

This will fit your Hoover https://www.ebay.com/itm/134500665285QUE...

That model 700 looks like it has a model 575 motor, they were sold at the same time IIRC. As for the handheld, there is a Premier bag on ebay that will fit it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/204376709355QUE...

Will a Legacy Bag Work?

Not even close. That's for a model that's 60+ years ahead of your 700. Hard to tell from your pictures, but you might need a bag ring if yours is missing. The bag that Hoover300 linked is the correct bag for your Hoover. There's a guy on eBay who 3D prints these rings. He also makes one that lets you use paper bags if you want to go that route. I've purchased from him and his work is second to none.

Thanks to both you guys for your quick and helpful response. Vacuums are a new world for me. I have mostly done pocketwatch restoration, as well as vintage toasters, vintage electric fans and 2 1936 Servel Electrolux propane refrigerators. I love the beauty and quality of old machinery. Very little made today can compare to it.
Just a follow up question: I guess I am missing the bag ring. Am I right that I need it for either bag, cloth or paper? I looked at the one on ebay and it seems like it would fit over the 2 screws at the intake.
I've bid on both bags on Ebay. Thanks a lot for your help!

You will need the ring and the cloth bag whether you choose to use a paper bag or not. The paper bag would just sit inside the cloth bag. You may also need the bag slide for the Hoover bag, this one will fit and is much cheaper than the Hoover one on ebay https://www.ebay.com/itm/285322503135QUE...

Top end is open as you need the clip, which I linked in my previous comment. The small end of the bag will clamp onto your new bag ring.
