I thought my carpet was clean! I had a small repair completed by my Rainbow dealer and the Aquamate is back in service. I used to have one of the name brand big box store "steam" cleaners but my Aquamate does a better job of removing the moisture and filth from the carpet. The store machine went to Goodwill.

I have tge new kirby shampooer and my wife wasn't impressed. We used the aquamate on the black rainbow and it's awesome.

Les,
The belt on mine broke after about 10 years use. We have a very good Rainbow dealer in Indianapolis. He has been in the Rexair business for 30 years and his repairs are done right and at very fair prices. He showed me the new unit and the newest edition of the power nozzle. I am glad they added those side brushes back. By having a slightly smaller footprint, the suction and air flow seem to be more concentrated on the carpet.
I don't think the Rainbow is suited for everyone but neither is a Kirby. I have a Kirby that I bought new in 1989 and it still works fine. What I like is NEVER any odor from the Rainbow and you REMOVE the dirt and filth EVERY time from your home. I never did like the idea of STORING it in the bag or container in the closet. We don't save dirty dish water, or dirty bath water or dirty water from washing clothes , so why would we SAVE dirt and filth that is tracked into your homey in a machine.

When you go into a vacuum store you see row after row after row of dirty machines that the owners have failed to empty or clean the dry filters.
Have you noticed how many of the high end cleaners expect you to replace not only the bags but hepa filters every year. I have changed my Rainbow hepa filter only 1 time in 12 years. I just put my 2nd new one last year and it really did not need it.
Everybody has to have the type machine that will work best in their home and situation. No one right machine .

My Bissell Big Green Clean machine does a fantastic job of removing dirt and liquid. Highly recommend. Bissell also has excellent cleaning detergents.

I am probably one of the few people who changes the water every few rooms with my Aunt's D3C. After every use, I also clean the seperator with a toothbrush and rinse out the water basin. Despite being almost 40 years old, the unit does not have a mildew smell like many do and the fans are almost untouched.

The kirby shampoo system is somewhat a joke and also a gemic. Yes it shampoos and refreshens your carpets, but it doesn't extract and removes the stains. Not only that but it's wide and bulky, loud and unbareable, especially when you use it to mop the floors assuming you have the new updated multi surface shampooer that came out with the avalir back in 2014. Which for that you'd still would need a mop to get into the hard to reach places that the multi surface shampooer can't reach. And this is coming from somewhat who grew up with a kirby system in the home.

As an adult who owns a rainbow system, I like the aquamate a lot better than a kirby shampooer. I like how streamline the system is, meaning I could get into hard to reach areas, whereas with a kirby I couldn't. The other main thing i like with this system is that it extracts the stains. Now my only critic with this system is that the soap solution sides need to be bigger. In fact both the water side and solution sides could be increase to a bigger size. I would love to see how rexair will improve this accessory in the future.

But for the time being kirby needs to come up with something new. The g-series, more specifically the avalir systems need to be replaced with a new model. The same with its shampoo systems.
