So I’ve been wanting an example of a modern Aerus/Electrolux canister for awhile now and I finally came across this beauty on eBay and snatched it up as soon as I saw it. I’m not super familiar with the Guardian series of vacuums but I imagine it’s gonna be around the same experience as a Renaissance (correct me if I’m wrong lol). I was just hoping y’all could give me a little more insight to this model. I know it’s a import with the Aerus/Lux branding slapped on it and that’s about where my knowledge and experience with these ends.

@adiostoreador Hey that's an extremely quirky machine and worth having in a collection. I personally think it's a slightly improved experience over the Renaissance. But they are getting brittle so be careful with that.
I rather enjoyed the example that was lent to me recently.

@vacuumdevil Thanks for the video! I’m super excited to have the machine in my collection plus it’s another one off my list. I was stoked to find it for around 400 dollars too! Usually these are expensive as all get out even second hand. Can’t wait for it to get here either, I’ll be sure to post pictures when it gets here!

The Platinum canister is extremely quiet and extremely powerful. I was always curious about them myself for a bit especially when I came across a friend who had a few in his shop but no hoses. I ordered a hose and I was able to try the machine when it finally arrived.

Unfortunately, I have a sensitive right wrist as it has been broken twice over the years. I'm only 40 with no arthritis but the angle of the hose handle was too unique and awkward for me so I had to sell the machine.

I have since purchased a used Aerus Classic canister with pistol grip hose and also a brand new Aerus Lux Legacy canister. The curvature of the handle and generally handling of both are great and a night and day difference for my wrist. Very happy with my Legacy especially. The power nozzles for the Legacy and Classic are also quieter and very pleasant sounding.

Not the greatest photo of my Classic, but that's a photo of it a while back when I brought it to my office. It has become my office cleaning vac.

The last photo has the Guardian Platinum canister when I was trying it another time in hopes I could used it. I ended up finishing my cleaning that night with the Legacy.

An Update!

adiostoreador's profile picture
So I have had a chance to actually use the vacuum since the bags I ordered came in. I think this is a nifty and quirky little machine! Y’all are right this thing is quiet as all get out. Usually cause I work second shift I use my Miele Carina when I get home to vacuum real quick before I go to bed as I have the turbo floor tool for carpets and overall its just a good quiet cleaning machine that wont totally disturb my neighbor. The Aerus though I feel is just about on the same level of quiet even with the power head running! Overall this thing is really cool and I’m happy I found it for the price I did ($325) as I have wanted a example of a more modern Aerus/Electrolux canister for a while now and they are hard to find within my price range. The only thing I need now is the attachments for the machine as those didn’t come with it but I feel that’ll be easy enough since I cleared the first hurdle in just getting the machine itself! I’ll post more pictures later but felt I just wanted to get the update out of the way. Also just to throw this in there cause I’m beyond excited about it! I was able to find a model of Elite that I have been searching for for a mean minute. A Hoover Perferred Elite!! This model was what my grandmother had for the longest time until there was no more repairing it! It’s the exact color (Maroon) and it came with all attachments and some extras! I’m super pumped for this to come in so I can relive that childhood nostalgia!

Motor Surprise

The Platinum is quite powerful I was quite shocked to open mine up to find a 4.5" motor in it. You'd never guess!

It seems like they're not quite a durable as the Aerus units but it's power is beyond them and it's much quieter too. If they could combine those elements they'd really have a winner.

I walked away from one of these at Goodwill a couple of years ago. It had the hose, wands, and power nozzle for only $10, the same price I had paid for a Diamond Jubilee machine at that store a few years earlier. I gave it serious consideration, but for whatever reason, it just didn't resonate with me. The final factor that tipped the scales away from me buying it was that it used type 'R' bags, and I just didn't feel like going outside of my existing Electrolux (types 'C' and 'U') ecosystem.

But no sooner had I walked away from it to peruse the book section, another customer took a quick look at it and promptly put it in her cart, so I'm guessing it went where it was supposed to go. I hope the lady who bought it is enjoying it.

For $10 I would have snapped that right up! my first one cost me like 500 with shipping.
They use the style P bags though

@Blackheart That’s about the max I was willing to pay for this vacuum, I really felt lucky to find it for the price that I did. But that being said $500 dollars isn’t to bad considering what they go for new.

Also here’s a few pictures I took of it. I really do think it’s decent machine. Definitely a good looking machine!

They fit the same attachments as TriStar. You can try eBay or a vac shop for attachments from TriStar or the Aerus Platinum.

You can also go to Aerus website and contact some Aerus shops for pricing and shipping.

Each Aerus store is independently owned and operated so pricing does vary. I called a few for quotes when I ordered a hose. I'm happy to share store info for the one I ordered from. The Associate was easy to work with, while seeming knowledgeable with much better prices and not trying to swindle me like a local vendor. They ship.

Thanks for the info!! I’ll have to wait for getting the attachments as moving may be happening in my future but will definitely check with the store you suggested.
