Soon I might be getting a Hoover vacuum that usually takes type z bags. I already have one z bag left but an abundance of y bags from the Windtunnel I got for Christmas a few years back. Would it be alright if I used y bags in a z machine? I t could still fit right? Just curious.

Yes it'd still fit. You could even fit a type A bag in either a Z or a Y machine.

A, Y, & Z all have the same mounting collar. However, Y bags are only for clean air vacuums like the Hoover Windtunnel. The A and Z bags are meant for direct air vacuums like the Elite, Caddyvac, etc.
