114 years ago to this day. June 2, 1908, a once department store janitor named James Spangler had obtained the patent for the very first portable vacuum cleaner that he had invented. First known as the "Electric Suction Sweeper". One of the biggest innovations in human history helping keep all of our homes clean and our lives healthier. Happy anniversary to the vacuum cleaner! (Kind of wish it was done a day later since the 3rd is my birthday LOL). When did you all become vacuums enthusiasts and even what vacuum made you all one!

Happy birthday, John!
The first vacuums that caught my attention, back in the early 1970s, were my mom's gold Hoover Portable, and blue Hoover Lark, which was sort of a stick vac. I've always been an admirer of lots of different makes and styles of vacuums, but I didn't start accumulating a collection until the last dozen or so years. Barry |

I'm an 80s child and my family primarily had Hoover but we had some other machines too over the years. My current selection is widely varied from a Dirt Devil Featherlite upright, many Hoovers but also two Simplicitys, two Aerus canisters and more. One of my most lastest newbies to my collection is my Aerus Lux Legacy canister that I bought brand new this past Christmas. I've used vacuums for cleaning homes over the years and at my home for controlling allergies and more.
