Just a thread I thought would be interesting for people to hop onto! What type of vacuum do they use at the place you work?

I don't have a job but I could post vacuums I have seen at businesses perhaps...Rare to find, have to come in just as someone was doing housekeeping.

I sold my Kärcher CV36/2 (Sebo BS36) to a local church and it works great on those low pile carpets. My dad is the one who is hired to clean the church + other jobs there. He really likes it. Previously they only used large shop vac with straight suction nozzle to vacuum those carpets. Needless to say that commercial upright was huge improvement.

At my work, we have a Dyson cordless for quick pick ups and for cleaning out our shredder. And we have a Shark upright for cleaning the whole building. The Dyson is alright but the Shark I hate using.

At my work (private, resort-style country club set within a master-planned community), the porters use a Bissell BigGreen Commercial ProCup bagless upright for cleaning the carpet and rugs throughout the building.

This particular vacuum is essentially a commercial version of the original Bissell PowerForce Helix, featuring a different color scheme, a stretch hose and a longer, heavy-duty detachable cord (easy to replace if it wears out). From what I've seen, it does a pretty good job, but the vacuum has definitely seen better days; the handle release pedal is broken, the hose has some tape on it, the cord is missing the grounding pin and the filters are caked with dust, thanks to a terrible single-cyclonic design.

We also have a commercial Hoover PortaPOWER; I have some vague memories of a past porter using it.

I work as a dishwasher at the club's restaurant, meaning that I don't get to use the Bissell. So I went on a restroom break and snuck in this picture while no one was around. Debris is even wrapped around the primary separator, a sign of poor maintenance.

The vacuums we use at my work vary because I work at a vacuum store so often trade in machines are used until they are sold. In the back room/repair area we’re currently using a Hoover commercial. I’m not sure the model but it was brand new and got traded in because the cord had gotten a large slice in it (presumably from them opening the box with a knife and slicing the cord unintentionally). We don’t mind the sliced cord as it’s only the insulation that’s bad the wires aren’t exposed. It’s a bagged unit I’ll have to take a picture of it when I go in today. For the sales floor I often use the Simplicity Freedom cordless S10CV. It’s preowned and not for sale.

We have a Sanitaire sc888 with gray outer bag that takes f&g, it’s odd that it’s not red, it says commercial down the front and allergen filtration at the top. The back says use only genuine eureka f&g filteraire bags. Next is a Sanitaire sc4570 basically a beefed up victory. There is also a Fein shop vac, in my actual office I use a shark rotator professional lift away that I found on the side of the road. Per usual the filters were clogged, it came with the bag that keeps all the extra attachments and the owners manual. The hose is taped in several spots, after a quick clean up it works very well.

Here are the pictures of my work machines. The Hoover is a CH53005 model. Apparently it’s missing the handle screw as I quickly found out. The simplicity is used on the sales floor and the Hoover in the back repair area. The simplicity is cordless.

All great vacs!!!!!

At my work, I only saw it for a split second, is a Windsor S/XP12. Honestly probably the best commercial grade vac around. As for other vacs, I used to go with my dad to clean his office and every single time we'd go over several areas with the Sc886. I think the new office has a 679. YEARS AND YEARS AGO, however, I went to his very first office. The vacuums they had were NOT commercial grade but interesting to say the least. Off the top of my memory, it was one either Hoover Futura or Hoover Dimension II, and one either Dirt Devil Vision or Ultra MVP. Interesting choices to say the least.

Cool combo, old and new gen of Sanitaire/Eureka! Which one do you prefer of the two.

Eureka 1998

That’s hard to say, I’d lean towards the 4570, just because it’s so versatile. Compared to rug only sc888

Interesting! Yeah I would imagine since most of the old styled Sanitaires are rug only that pretty much meant any old gen Eureka with VibraGroomers were only meant for rugs. Wonder how people used them on floors then LOL attachments I'd assume. Speaking of which, do you know if I can get attachments for my Sanitaire? I recently picked up an Sc684 from a local vac shop. Surprisingly from before the Bissell buyout.

Surprised to hear that someone is still using a SC4570, amazing! I wished Sanitaire still made these machines, at least the blue one for residential use (Yes it was sold in blue before). I like them more than the FORCE but that's just in my opinion.

The Sanitaires look insanely nice, and the Sharks (which are not my FAVORITE favorite) hold up surprisingly well for big box retailer vacs, they're definitely NOT the worst thing to buy. My cousin has the same model.

We mostly have windsor versmatic pluses which have now been discontinued so they'll be replaced with versamatics when the pluses go. We also have Proteam backpacks but very few people use them. There's also the odd advance carpetreiver 28
