This is a random question, but I am curious. Would the picture of this silverado be a late run with the plastic cordwinder bumper or would it be a replacement? I am curious if Electrolux switched to the non-emblem stamped rear bumpers just before the diamond j model rolled out. Does anyone know?

Thanks,
Matt

I'm not fully sure I understand which part you're asking about. Are you referring to the butt end of the machine or the plastic surrounding the plug? Both parts differ between my Silverado and my Diamond J. The Silverado in the photo appears to have Diamond J parts in both locations. Although the 'butt plate' is smooth like a Diamond J, it's color keyed to Silverado gray, which would indicate they made a rolling design change before the Diamond J came out. This stuff happens; just look at the number of minor design changes to the 1205 during its run. This would also lead me to doubt that it was a swapped part off of a Diamond J, as the 'butt plate on that model is a much darker graphite/charcoal gray, almost black. A dealer would simply slap what was compatible and close at hand onto the machine and send it out the door, as they did when I got the handle and cord assembly on my Genesis LXe replaced under a factory recall, which I have since come to regret. The replacement handle does not match the color scheme of the original, and its rocker switch has never worked correctly. To put the machine into straight suction mode, I have to first turn on the brush roll and then back the switch off one position. This was never an issue with the original handle's sliding switch.

Good question…

I was referring to the stamped rectangular Electrolux logo that you saw on the 1205 models up until the Diamond J where they no longer stamped the emblem on the rear of the machine. I was curious if that change happened during the later Silverado run.

Matt, that machine was actually built as the Diamond Jubilee was released. We used to call it a hybrid model because it was half Silverado and half Diamond Jubilee. The hybrid Silverado had a plastic cord winder housing instead of the earlier cast aluminum one, also the inside of the front cover was plastic instead of cast aluminum, the motor was totally different from the original Silverado machine. The earlier motors were built in components like they were for years, the new motor was one piece, no parts were sold, you had to replace the motor as an assembly. Pretty much everything this machine had what the Diamond Jubilee had.

Thank you!!

Thanks for the explanation! I suspected that’s what Electrolux did on the conversion to the diamond J.
