The image is from a 1975 or 1976 Eureka poster. The model in question is between the Models 2025 and 2042.

Haven’t figured it out yet Paul. It’s an interesting model: has the old Vanguard motor head and head light, plus a Rugulator like the early Vanguards. A year earlier, this was given the model number 2048 according to the ebay listing below…

Thanks for your responses, Huskyvacs, Brian, and Billy.

I ran across a 1975 ad that included the Model 2036, which matched the details of the poster. It was produced from 1975-78.

This is an example of Eureka's inconsistent model numbering: 2015, 2025, and 2036. One would've thought the last would've been 2035; which I believe was a commercial that WAS consistent with the numbering of the heavy duty Models 2045 & 2055.

This leads me to think that different design teams were in place, and their communication and/or coordination was lacking. Of course, they would never have guessed that any consumer would notice or care; particularly an enthusiast or a collector! Ha

Brian,

I agree that the Model 2048 is a close match to the Model 2036.

The years of the 2048's newspaper ad's in the database I use are 1974-77, so it was produced around the same time as the 2036.

According to a YT video the 2048's base was metal, so I'm guessing that that's one difference between the two besides the color scheme. Other variables in this case are bag cover size, brush roll type, switch type, handle grip, cord length, and motor.

I like the 2048's bag cover design and color. Do you know of other models that were equipped with it?

Another Unknown Model

Here's another unknown model—the 4-way Dial A Nap in cream & gold with the gold vertical tapestry pattern bag. The lack of hood vents indicates pre-1974, so it's part of the upper-tier 2000-Series, because the lower-tier 1400-Series models at the time either had a 2-way Dial A Nap or none. Please identify the model number if you can. Two possibilities are 2008 or 2009.

The photo was initially posted by eurekaboy in thread #88588.

I am going to take a guess that the way “Eureka” is displayed on a bag is a good indicator of the year or years the upright was produced. That is if - and only if - the model being shown on EBay is not a FrankenEureka with a replacement or mismatched bag.

So there were a few years where all upright bags had the Eureka name printed in black on the bag. After that period, the company actually glued a nice plastic label to the bag. In 1973 and 1974, the deluxe Rugulator uprights in Queen Anne Gold had no brandname on the gold bag.

Thanks for your input and attention to details as always, Brian!

I happened to run across another thread showing a Model 2010 base with a 4-way Dial A Nap in rallye gold (guessing) with a cream hood. That model was part of the 1971 "Imperials" line which mentioned a decorative bag - so I'm thinking that's it.
