This is a question I believe hasn't been asked before so I thought I'd start a discussion about it;
What is a vacuum cleaner that you like, not necessairly for the vacuum as a whole, but for a certain particular feature that it has or does? For me, I like the Eureka Brushroll Clean With SuctionSeal AS3401A (yes that is the real name) for the brushroll cleaning feature. It has a metal cutting bar connected to a foot operated pedal, and all you have to do is step on that pedal, and it brings the metal bar down on the brushroll (while the vacuum is running) and it cuts off any wrapped hair or debris stuck to the brushes. It works brilliantly and I really wish more vacuum companies did that. I did not want to retire that vacuum just because of that feature alone. The suction is also immensely powerful too, you can tip the vacuum over if using the hose and it sticks to the hardwood floor. Another vacuum I am fond of is more vintage, the Hoover Concept Two with its little onboard Dustbuster. You can be vacuuming the floor, and notice some crumbs on a furniture or table as you are vacuuming, and just lift the little dustbuster off, clean up the mess, and stick it back on. To me that's such a handy idea especially since it's always plugged in and receiving power so it is ready to go at any time you need it. It ewas really ahead of it's time considering how vacuums now want everything all onboard all the time. Another example - even though it was a flop - the Oreck Radiovac. I love listening to music on my Zune while I'm working so having a radio on the vacuum was such a great idea. You need noise cancelling headphones to use it to block out the vacuum noise (Oreck sold these at extra cost and they are unobtainable anymore but I suspect that Bose was the supplier) but the concept does work as it should and it uses your body as the antenna for the radio (kind of weird I know). | ||

I could probably think of more, if I take some time. But, off the top of my head, I always liked my Electrolux Epic 6500/Aerus Lux Legacy because I can turn the brush roll on and off from the handle. As well as there being a suction control right there too.
I know other vacuums have those features. But, the Electrolux/Aerus was my first experience with them. Barry | ||
