I got this at the thrift store for $6 and all it really needed was a belt and the end caps needed clean. Feel free to share your opinions on this machine. I also forgot to mention was this unit smelled like Kerosene or Diesel after it being ran for 1 minute coming out the exhaust. I don't know if that's normal or a heat problem? You let me know.

Not a bad vacuum! Pretty simple. I have I think the same one or similar model but in blue. I think these might have been the very low end models. Vacuums take on the odors of where they were stored, and the smell usually will latch onto the bag material, the cord rubber, or the motor windings - I guess they are porous to odors. If someone had it stored in a garage or a machine shop or who knows where with gasoline next to it maybe it sucked that smell into it. I have a Rainbow vac that smells so badly of racing fuel I had to keep it in my garage until it is restored. It gave me a headache. I looked up the seller's address and it was a professional go-kart racing garage. Makes me wonder what in the world they used a Rainbow for in there. People do weird things with vacuums. |

Very nice!
I recently picked up a 2010, which looks similar, but in blue, and probably from the early 1970s. I don't even know if mine runs yet, because I have things to do to it before I try firing it up. And, personal problems have had me putting a lot of stuff on a back burner. Plus, I more recently got a free Kirby that I've been forcing myself to tinker with. Congratulations! Seems like you got a great deal! |

Thanks for posting that ad, Paul My mom had that Eureka ESP in the basement and sometime in the 2000's early, the motor blew up in a blue fireball and smoke, terrified me for several years of vacuums. We replaced it with a pumpkin orange JC Penney vac from the thrift store after it blew up and used that until that one died as well. Been on the hunt for both of those ever since.
