Hi, hope everyone is well.
Can someone tell me where the ground wire attaches to when converting from a 2 wire receptacle to a 3 wire receptacle?

I want to use a metal body Eureka made PN and believe I need to use a 3 wire configuration for safety.

Thanks,
G.

Any ideas?

It looks like this unit had the 2 wire receptacle added. Now I just want to replace it with a 3 wire receptacle.

Any help?

Hi Antoine

I think once I pull it open, I will be able to figure it out.

The ground wire coming off of the 3 prong connector goes to a screw inside the base where the ground wire coming off the cord is attached to. That's assuming your unit has a 3 prong cord. What does your 2 prong receptacle look like out of curiousity?

I have a D2 and can post pictures if you need assistance. You just unscrew the four screws holding the top chrome cover on and that's as far as you need to go as disassembly is concerned. Everything should be accessible.

Thanks Mike,

thank you very much. This is the 3-wire receptacle that I want to use. The 2-prong receptacle on the unit is brown like this one.

With all that is going on right now, I have not been able to work on my vacuums.
Hopefully soon I can. I sort of like to get a game plan down before starting on this project.

I will be in touch when I actually start.

You split the 3 sections of the pigtail. Hard wire black to black white to whit and the ground either attach a small piece of copper ot brass taken from a junk cord . Attach the prong with a small screw and install the ground wire on top of the copper but below the screw head. This will ground out the wire exactly what you need yo do and make sure you tape it or heat shrink it well.
